Wardrobe Wednesday // What I Wore to Dallas

Wardrobe Wednesday // What I Wore to Dallas

Packing for a two-day trip feels like it takes forever, especially when you are going to a fashion blogger conference.  At these kinds of events, it’s easy to put a lot of pressure on yourself to dress to impress, but I tried to just pull out what I felt good in and kept in mind that my main goal was to enjoy myself and visit with my friends.  But, that didn’t stop me from running to Marshalls and TJ Maxx at the last minute to see if I could find something new!  I shop everywhere and love the steals at those stores,

Bikini Contest Prep: 10 Weeks Out

Bikini Contest Prep: 10 Weeks Out

Just popping in to share a progress picture I snapped today- 10 weeks out from my bikini contest.  I am seeing good progress, but I also am standing tall and “sucking in”! 😉  I hope that in the next few weeks, I won’t have to try so hard!

I’m happy to be back home so that I can stick to my eating and training routine.  Last week I was off my game with the trip to Dallas and then the Gala on Saturday night.  But, being home, I can eat my food and on schedule.  It’s a lot of food to eat,

Springy Dining Room // World Market Foyer Table

Springy Dining Room // World Market Foyer Table

Well, it was time to take down the Easter bunny and eggs in exchange for some Spring-into-Summer dining room decor.  This World Market Everett Foyer Table has been a good buy and I enjoy changing out the decor with the seasons.  I’m still loving the HomeGoods lamps, so I kept them, but brought in some books for color in pink, blue, aqua and green and then shopped my house for added accessories.

The ‘Hello Sunshine’ framed print is actually a greeting card- lots of things can be art and frame worthy.

I bought some faux boxwood plants at Steinmart years ago and spray painted the pots from brown to white.

Eating Healthy When Traveling

Eating Healthy When Traveling

With 10 weeks until my fitness bikini competition, I’m getting a little freaked out.  The meal plan I’m on is really tough, mainly because it’s boring to eat the same thing over and over and over.  I have not been perfect, but I’m doing pretty well.  I flew to Dallas for two days on Thursday and in preparation for the trip, I brought food so I could stay on my meal plan.  My flight was only an hour, so I packed my small skillet (perfect size for my protein pancake), Pam coconut oil spray, ground oats (for the pancake),

Getting Back to Blogging

Getting Back to Blogging

The last few weeks have been super busy around here- not so much on the blog, but behind the scenes.  I was so happy to have my Grandma in town for a week at Easter, so in preparation for her visit and while she was here, I wasn’t working on any home projects besides cleaning and organizing.

Last weekend, I went to Dallas for a blog conference and got to visit with my friends Cassie, Carlee, NatalieCaycee, Desiree, and Chassity and meet new friends too;

Our Easter Table

Our Easter Table

We’re ready for Easter over here!  I’ve got the table all set for Sunday dinner and the Easter baskets filled.  We’ll be having ham, mac and cheese, corn on the cob, cranberry dressing and dinner rolls.  The table is dressed with our wedding china plates that I need to use more often, green mason jars for water cups, and hydrangeas in two shades of purple.

This table was inspired by this floral table runner with a combination of calming green, blue and green that I paired with blue cloth placemats that I’ve had for ages.

Happy Good Friday!

Happy Good Friday!

Happy Good Friday friends!  I’m so happy to have my Grandma in town from California.  We haven’t seen her since my son was 1, so it’s great having her here.  I added some touches of pink to her room since it’s her favorite color.  ðŸ™‚ The pillows and lamp are from Homegoods.

We’ll be  hosting Easter dinner with my family at our house and having an egg hunt with the kids on Sunday.  This is the first year my son is starting to understand why we celebrate Easter, which makes the holiday extra special.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Sculpted Ab Routine (Just 3 Exercises)

Sculpted Ab Routine (Just 3 Exercises)

As I mentioned yesterday when I shared my meal plan, I’m currently 12 weeks out from my first bikini competition and this week, I start doing my ab exercise routine everyday.  I have definitely seen improvements in the last two weeks in the toning/tightening of my stomach. I’m sure it’s a combination of my clean meals, workouts/cardio, ab exercises, and perhaps this cream I’ve been using.  The picture below was snapped on Monday morning (April 15, 2014).

Now that I’m 12 weeks out, I’m doing my ab exercises every day.  I do 3 exercises in a row,

12 Weeks Out // My Bikini Contest Meal Plan

12 Weeks Out // My Bikini Contest Meal Plan

This week we’re turning it up a notch in both the workouts and meal plan.  I still have fat to lose so, right now, there will be no fat in my diet, no sugar, no dairy.  I have to say that the meal plan is not very exciting, just a balance of lean protein, carbs, and veggies – 5 times a day.

This is similar to how I’ve been eating, but there are things I’m cutting that I previously had been enjoying:  coffee with creamer (I can have coffee but don’t like it without a lot of creamer, so I’m trading it for black unsweetened tea),

Organizing the Kid Clothes

Organizing the Kid Clothes

I’ve been trying to tackle a few organizing projects on my Master List and have happily completed two:  our mudroom, and, over the weekend, my son’s clothes.  As our weather is getting warmer and warmer, I needed to take stock of what shorts and t-shirts still fit, what needed to be pulled out as too small or too hot to wear.

We don’t keep his clothes in a dresser in his room; they are stored in the drawers in the bathroom.  Two of the cabinet drawers are large and deep, which contain shirts, pants, and shorts.

Healthy Pesto and Chicken Salad

Healthy Pesto and Chicken Salad

If you’ve been a little burned out by all the prepared meals I’ve been sharing here, you’re in for a treat with today’s Healthy Pesto and Chicken Salad recipe from Morgan of Morganize with Me.  She’s a girl after my own heart with a passion for health, exercise, organizing, and of course, her family (they have three adorable youngsters) and are currently living abroad.  That she lists “Target, pedicures, books you can’t put down, and happy tears” as some of her favorite things makes me adore her even more.  I hope you like this healthy pesto and chicken salad.

Organized Mudroom

Organized Mudroom

Okay folks, only took me 4 days to finally have some time to clean out and organize our mudroom, but now that it’s done, I’m loving it!  Hopefully, it can function smoothly and stay this way throughout the summer.

My son was at school when I snapped these photos, but his backpack goes on the empty hook.

You may remember the before:

A few simple changes made all the difference.

First, I removed the pillows (even though I sewed all of them myself) because I figured they were contributing to the cluttered look.

Time to Organize the Mudroom

Time to Organize the Mudroom

Good morning friends!  My computer is giving me issues lately, so I’ve got an appointment at the Mac store today, and after going through tons of receipts and paperwork in preparation for taxes, I’m motivated to get a few areas in our home cleaned out.  We are pretty organized around here, but there are some areas that need to be revisited. Number one on my list is to clean out is our mudroom.  It’s a useful space in our home that is getting overrun by everything that goes there and things that have been piling up as we run in and out of the house.

Can You Get More Toned Skin From a Bottle? (Bliss Fat Girl Six-Pack)

Happy Monday friends!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  With all the working out I’ve been doing lately, I’ve noticed that I’ve been more tired at the end of the day (which is a good thing!) because it means I’m getting to bed at a decent hour instead of staying up way too late.  I even slept from 9:30 p.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Sunday.  I guess my body needed it.  As I write this on Sunday night, I’m thinking of the Monday morning workout with my trainer, which I know is gonna be awesome (and so hard).  I’m loving these workouts and actually look FORWARD to them!

Sample Bikini Contest Prep Meal Plan

Sample Bikini Contest Prep Meal Plan

I know some of you would appreciate a bikini contest preparation meal plan that includes the nutritional breakdown of the food, so I snagged one from a friend of mine who is a bikini competitor. She is in her early 40s, about 5’3 and this is her second year competing.  She gave me permission to post the meal plan here, so it’s all yours!

Have a great WEEKEND!

Fun Kids’ Lunches

Fun Kids’ Lunches

Hi friends! I had some fun putting today’s post together, so I hope those of you who have kids or care for kids enjoy. I showed you last week how I organize my son’s school lunch/snacks to keep things convenient for fast mornings, but I admit it’s not very creative. It would be so great if I could get him to eat veggies and other varieties of food. Since, he’s 4, I thought he might be more interested if he had a fun lunch. . . .

First lunch is a rice cake “face” with broccoli hair,

Popular Pins // Easter Edition

Popular Pins // Easter Edition

Have y’all made any Easter plans?  I mentioned earlier that I am so excited to be having my Grandma visit from California.  We are so close and talk often (she even reads my blog!). She hasn’t been here since my son was about 1 year old, so I can’t wait for them to get reacquainted. It will be even better since they’ll be able to talk to each other and hang out. For Easter, we’ll be going to church and then having family over for lunch and an egg hunt.  No idea what’s on the menu yet . . .

I already decorated part of my dining room,

Veggies, Mushrooms/Onions & Brown Rice Meal Prep

Veggies, Mushrooms/Onions & Brown Rice Meal Prep

We all know it’s important to eat our veggies, but how many of us are actually doing it? I know I wasn’t until recently.  The surprise is, I really like it!  I look forward to eating my vegetables, especially a variety, and prepping them is really easy.

I’m eating a good 2-3 cups of veggies per day and typically prep a big bunch (my husband eats them too) so they are ready to eat right away. On Monday evening, I made a colorful variety of steamed veggies, brown rice, and sautéed onion and mushrooms to add to my lean protein meals.
