DIY // Inspiration/Memo Board

Slowly but surely I’ve been updating my home office and one of the latest touches was to create an inspiration/memo board.  I’m still rummaging through old magazines for images that inspire, but the board is ready and looks good all on it’s own thanks to this snappy black and white polka dot fabric I found at High Fashion Home.

You might recall this fabric as the “tablecloth” for the Pottery Barn mystery box challenge I participated in last year.  I like to use what’s on hand and this pattern works perfectly in my office.
To make the board, I covered a cork board with the fabric and stapled it taut with a staple gun.

I folded the corners like I was wrapping a present.

Then I added nailhead trim around the edge for a decorative detail.
You can read about my fabric-wrapped books HERE.  And thanks for the sweet little birdie friend!

And, I figured out how to put a Facebook Like Box on my blog by reading THIS 3-step tutorial:
I need to be better about updating the HWH Facebook page.
Are you active on Facebook?
You guys know I love Pinterest and Instagram (@honeywerehome), but FB and Twitter haven’t really gotten my attention as much.  I think there’s only so much social media I can actively participate in at one time.  I like how FB helps reconnect you to old high school friends though- it’s fun to get caught up and see what’s going on.

You are on a DIY roll, lately! Love this (and anything with polka dots lately).

As you know, I JUST joined facebook after looong hesitation. I keep facebook mostly to personal friends and family and didn't want to bombard them all with blog post stuff so I finally created a page for my blog. I find I click over to blogs a lot from facebook too, way more than twitter.

That looks great Megan! Love the polka dots and your pink tulips looks so pretty with the black and white. That bird is so sweet. I have a real soft spot for birds. I got hooked up to Facebook when our high school reunion was being planned. It is fun to reconnect with old friends.

Beautiful!! I had tried making one of these and didn't wrap the fabric around the sides but I am going to try it your way.

One question though – how do you keep the fabric from getting riddled with holes as you add push-pins? I found that with mine over time. It started to look bad as I used it. Have you found a particular fabric that isn't as prone to that?

No, I'm sure my fabric will end up the same way! I'll just have to recover it after time.

I love this and I definitely need one of these in our kitchen. What did you use on the border of the board…are they upholstery nails? Thanks for giving us beautiful and practical ideas for our homes!

That is so adorable! I am pinning this for my future office. We are in the process of finishing our sub basement, and when we are finished, I will have the perfect place for this wonderful board. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful fabric! And, I love the nailhead trim! Where in Houston did you purchase it?

I got the nailhead trim at Hobby Lobby.

I just noticed you updated your picture on FB. I miss you not being on facebook. I don't do twitter and my instagram is private. I interact so much more using FB. I've never gotten down twitter, so it scares me to go on. Love the memo board Megan.
