Vitamins

We always hear that it’s important to take a multivitamin each day, but I wonder how many of us are actually doing that.  I admit to continually falling off of my daily vitamin routine.  I found a vitamin I really like though, its a GUMMY! and my son and I take our vitamins together in the morning, so it helps me to remember.

Dr. Oz says that we only need 100% of the daily value of the 12 essential vitamins and minerals, with iron for pre-menopausal women.  He also recommends taking half in the morning and half at night to maximize absorption.  My multivitamin requires 2 for the full dose, so I take a second one before dinner.

You can read Dr. Oz website for a list of critical vitamins he recommends for women.

  1. I really have trouble remembering my vitamin – I might have to try those gummies. I just started taking fish oil and I've heard from numerous sources that amino acids are great but I've yet to try them.

  2. Random question, but have you ever had issues with constipation when taking vitamins? That's always been my issue so I never stick to taking them…any thoughts?

  3. I'm so aweful at remembering to take them. I finally set a reminder on my phone and Ava and i take them together too. she loves her gummys!! mine are gummys too since i can't seem to swallow a regular pill w/out gagging! 🙂

  4. I love this blog!! Just wanted to add that while the gummies are indeed DELICIOUS, most of them do NOT contain iron. This is because they are very appealing to kids and they can OD on iron easily by mistakenly eating mom's vitamins. If you take the gummies, it's a good idea to take an iron supplement as well. Also, iron is usually the culprit in constipation with vitamins… hope that helps. Keep up the awesome and inspiring posts Megan!!
