My Live Fit Week 5 Recap

If you’ve been following along, you know I’m doing the Jamie Eason Live Fit 12 Week Training Program.  I should have completed Week 5 two weeks ago, but a cold knocked me out for a week, so I had to wait to start Week 5 last week.  I’m happy to say that I completed it nearly perfectly and it feels so good!  At the end of this week, I am really starting to see visible changes in my figure.  My arms and shoulders and getting more defined and my waist is diminishing!!  I can see more tone in my legs too:)

I have started taking a Branched Chain Amino Acid supplement (I add 3 tablespoons in my water bottle) while I work out. I went with a brand recommended by Jillian Michaels in her book, Making the Cut (Twin Lab Amino Fuel).

Seeing these changes is giving me the motivation to continue my efforts at the gym and with my clean eating.  My meals are pretty much on auto pilot these days.  I haven’t wanted to “cheat” because I don’t want to ruin what I’ve been working so hard for.  I have had a few chocolates here and there, and I did have a hot cocoa with skim milk a few nights this week.  We ate sushi on Sunday, but I just had tuna sashimi and one roll.

Week 5 started Phase 2 (of 3) and is Days 29-35. The workouts looked like this:

Below are the printouts that I take to the gym with me that tell me what exercises and how many repetitions to do.
DAY 30:  CHEST.
I don’t like to lift weights for chest, so I only did 2 chest exercises, then did abs and cardio.
I started keeping track of my workouts on DAY 31, which I should have been doing from the beginning.  I like seeing what weight I’m lifting and that I’m getting stronger.  (The number I write in signifies the weight I am lifting/the bottom number (if there is one) shows how many reps I did.
With abs, I usually superset them into each workout, even though the plan doesn’t say you need to.  I’m doing that to TRY to tighten that post-pregnancy skin.  It’s getting much better, but I’m not sure it will ever go away completely.

DAY 35: REST DAY
This was supposed to be a rest day, but it was such gorgeous weather here that I did a 3-mile jog at the park.  I did intervals, alternating between walking and running.
I had my body fat measured at my gym last Friday, with a 3 Site Skinfold test (that’s where they pinch you at your tricep, abdomen, and thigh).  The result was 14.5% and I weighed 103 pounds.  I’m 5’1 and petite.
But, I didn’t really trust that body fat number, because I thought it was too low for what I look like now.  I was last tested at my old gym in May 2012 and I was at 22%.  (Right after I had my son, I was at 29%).  So, I went back to my old gym and they restested me using a 4 Site Skinfold test, and the result was 16.3%.  I assume the correct number is somewhere in the middle, around 15%.
I’m not necessarily too concerned with the body fat number (but I was curious), I just want to achieve a little more definition all over.

  1. You look AWESOME! I keep telling myself I need to be more disciplined when it comes to my diet, but I just can't get motivated again since having baby #2….maybe one day! In the meantime, thanks for the inspiration!

  2. omg you are like in my top five favorite bloggers! love the organizing and fitness together! haha are you participating in onlineblogcon.com ? I would love for you to share some of your expertise blogging tips in our facebook group. it's not too late!

  3. You look fantastic! Prior to having your son, were you around the same weight as you are now? I am just finishing a metabolic program at my gym and am starting the live fit in 3 weeks when this is over. I am loving the results everyone has had with it! Great motivation!!

    1. Before I was pregnant, I was about 105 pounds. You can read all about it in my "before and after" section. I'll be interested to hear what you think about Live Fit! You can do it!

  4. You look amazing! I have to tell you how much I appreciate this blog – I am finishing up week 2 tonight and I've stuck with the workouts (in a modified order, depending on what days I could get to the gym and what days I had to do had home with hand weights and bands) and the clean eating about 95% – I have NEVER stuck with something this strict for this long. I know that sounds terrible since it's only been two weeks, but getting to the gym is hard and clean eating for me is nearly impossible, so I always cheat…a lot. I give credit to following your process and seeing your amazing results. I'm packing to leave for a work trip for 2 1/2 days this weekend, and I put in my gym stuff – I'm determined! Thank you 🙂

    1. Good for you Dawn! The only way to eat like Jamie recommends is to make your food in advance and keep each meal in containers ready to go. Then, even if you're not eating them for every meal, have two a day- that will keep you from eating something unhealthy at that meal. Have a great weekend!

  5. You look incredible! Like you, I am trying to tighten up the skin on my stomach that appeared after having my son. My stomach is now nice and flat with definition but that darn extra skin above my belly button makes me unhappy. But, we just have to keep trying!

As I mentioned before, my stats are similar to yours–I am almost 5'0", 93-94 lbs (I fluctuate a bit), and about 15-16% body fat. My calipers say 13.2% but I know that isn't quite accurate. It is really great to see what you are doing since we are so similar in height, weight, body fat, etc.

I am really enjoying both of your blogs and I really enjoy seeing your workouts and the progress you are making. This program is clearly working for you. Keep up the amazing work! You are gorgeous and very, very fit!

    1. Thanks Allie! I like to see another person with my similar frame! That skin is so annoying. I'm hoping that by the end of the program it's better!

  6. I wish I had been writing down the amount of weight I've been doing all along like you are! I just started week 9 yesterday and I'm DYING. Phase 3 is killer! But after getting this far I have to keep going! This program has been a game changer for me, I'm really glad you're sharing it!

  7. My right leg doesn't weigh 103lbs! I seriously want to put you in my pocket…you're just so stinking cute! And why am I all of a sudden starving?!?!

  8. You look awesome! Seriously motivating!

I'd love to know how you started on your fitness journey and worked up to the strength and endurance you have now. I'm reasonably fit, but have never really followed a formal fitness regimen… usually I find them pretty intimidating. Maybe an idea for a future post if you're looking 🙂

  9. You go girl! You look great! I look forward to your blog. Your blog is helping me stay motivated. Thanks for all the inspiration and great tips!

  10. HI

My gym used a Tanita scale for body fat testing, runs around $500. It spits out a lot of information, such as a complete body composition profile, including weight, body fat % (total and segmental), body water %, muscle mass (total and segmental), physique rating, BMR, DCI, metabolic age, bone mass, and visceral fat. They sell cheaper ones for home use.

I follow the Metabolic Effect workout but the one your following sounds great too!!

  11. I love this blog and this post was totally inspiring! I started the Jamie Eason workouts last night and my arms are like jello today – but I love it! Thanks for being such a great motivator!

  12. hi! I am a follower of I Heart Organizing and found you through there! I just wanted to let you know that about 2 months ago my boyfriend and I completed the 12 week live fit plan that you're on 🙂 It was life changing and amazing for us! We both followed the food plan and workouts perfectly. I went from 155 lbs (my heaviest, i'm 5'2") to 129! And I went from being able to only do workouts with a 5 pound weight to now a 15 pound weight! I also was very out of shape and had a hard time with cardio, and i can now do that a lot better! Good luck, it is such a great plan! We are repeating the three month work outs now 🙂

  13. You look great!! Such an inspiration to me, and I work out 5 days a week! Your toning and the way your body looks, is how I want to look pre and post future babies!

What is the exact Branched Chain Amino Acid supplement that you use? I'm not sure what to buy.

    Thanks!

  15. Hi Megan! You look amazing. One question – how closely did you follow Jamie's recommended food plan? (For example, 5 egg whites every morning, turkey muffins for a snack etc). And also did you do any cardio as well or just the weight lifting?

    Thanks!
