New Upholstered Headboard

We’ll be having some house guests with us for awhile, and wanted to make them comfortable in our home so we decided to put a king-sized bed in our guest room, as opposed to the uncomfortable old queen bed that’s in there now.  Getting a king-sized mattress also called for a new king-sized headboard, so we decided to move our current headboard/footboard into the guest room and get a new one for our master bedroom.  You might recall the styles I had been looking at last year.

I ended up purchasing one through Overstock.com, and it probably won’t arrive for a few weeks.  It got great reviews, so I’m really hoping it’s nice!

It’s the Aisling Cream Fabric King Platform Bed.  I like the nailhead trim detailing and the fact that it’s not just the headboard.
Our current bed (from Z Gallerie) will be heading to the guest room.
I’ve got lots I’d like to do to transform our bedroom, I’ll be sure to show you when the bed arrives!

  1. Love it, Meg!

The DH and I are finally getting a king, and building our bed and headboard together…

    Should be interesting…lol…

  2. Great idea. When we moved to our new house we did the exact same thing. We had a guest room that was big enough to accommodate a king, and knew it would make our guests more comfortable. It helps that we found an amazing deal on a king size foam mattress. And it was the perfect excuse to move our old headboard to the guest room and get a new bed for ourselves!

  3. I have the same exact bed from O. It looks great but it's not very stable. I had an issue with the footboard. The wood in the footboard is very thin so it can't hold any weight. Maybe they've fixed it since. It is a beautiful bed tho. Will look great in your bedroom I'm sure.

  4. very nice! Its going to be beautiful in your room. Ive been eyeing a nail head trim bed myself. I found an awesome one that is a wingback style. If I had know you were on the hunt for an upholstered headboard I would have sent you some pics of these-they are beautiful and great prices too.

  5. Love your choice. I've been browsing around for an upholstered headboard myself, but one of the concerns I have is will the bed show over the Euro shams I have. I don't want to spend several hundred dollars on a headboard and then only have an inch or so show over the top. I think I'm going to have to make one to make sure I can get one tall enough. I've looked at these on O and will be excited to see how yours looks.

  6. I cant wait to see what you end up doing once the headboard arrives. we have a similar one (got last summer) from Restoration Hardware and I had a heck of a time figuring out bedding, etc. still not sold on what I have. Anyway- will look forward to your blogs once it arrives!

  7. You wanted to change your headboard….what a great excuse! Your overstock will come sooner than you think…I ordered 6 chairs and they came within a week and were packaged beautifully. I'm really shocked and pleased with them!

  8. This reminds me of the Crate and Barrel Colette bed which I have been wanting forever. Can't wait to see how you transform your bedroom.

  9. I wish my hubs would let me get a queen size bed!
Our King is so cramped in our bedroom!
OUR Resolution was to do a house project every month this year. January is almost half way over and we haven't even began!
Good luck, I'm so excited to see the end result. Your home is so beautiful!

  10. We have that same exact bed from O and we love it! We got it because it looks pretty much like the Collette bed from C&B but so much more affordable. Its very sturdy-my little one jumps on it all the time, and because it's a platform bed-no need for a box spring. Hope you like yours as much as we love ours!
