Bedding- Help!

As you know, after having my eye on an upholstered headboard for our master bedroom, we finally bit the bullet and ordered the Aisling Cream Fabric King Bed from Overstock.  We are still waiting for it to arrive.

In anticipation of the bed’s arrival, I’ve been looking for new bedding to dress her in.  Our current bedding is just plain white sheets with an aqua blanket.  I’d like to keep the pale color, but add some pretty pattern to make it more interesting.

I really like this muted pastel bedding from Restoration Hardware. But it might be too muted.

It looks very similar or the same as Emily’s bed from A Well Dressed Home.  I like how she accessorized the bed with the grey zebra pillows from West Elm.

But I also like the Dwell Studio Batavia Dove Duvet Set.  It’s more modern and funky, but still soothing.

It also comes in a buttery yellow, which I always think is pretty.  It looks great with the patterned sheets.
The paisley Pottery Barn bedding nice too.

Neiman Marcus has bed linens on sale right now.  I like the Legacy “Ellington” but I’d have to pair it with something that’s not geometric to soften it.

The Ikat is so awesome and also comes in light blue.
I fell in love with this Annette Tatum bedding, but I haven’t seen it in a king size.  The pinks, oranges and purples are fun but not overpowering.  I tend to lean toward grey, pale blue or aqua, but this color palette is so refreshing.

A more affordable, but less colorful Target option is below.
Which one do you like best?  Our walls are light grey and the new bed is cream fabric.  Have you seen any others you like that I missed?  I’m torn but might be leaning toward the Ikat or Dwell Studio with patterned sheets??

You found so many great options! I really like the first one from Restoration Hardware. Classic and relaxing! But…I also LOVE the yellow! Best of luck choosing!

The paisley print from Pottery Barn is gorgeous in person. My parents have it on their bed.

  3. January 24, 2012 / 4:15 am

Woops. I posted the link above. These sets you like are in the same vein as ours from Target http://www.target.com/p/Simply-Shabby-Chic-Elegant-Neutrals-Comforter-Set/-/A-11084863 100% cotton king comforter and two shames are $120. The pic on the Target website is a horrible representation. It's a slight ikat damask in gray and light blue on a soft white background. If you're in Target it's worth checking out – it's in the simply shabby chic area.

  4. January 24, 2012 / 4:35 am

Sarah- I like it! I'll check it out in person next time I'm in Target.

Jen- I emailed you back, but so glad to hear you like your bed! Hope mine arrives soon:)

Love ALL these beddings. My hubby and I just ordered a new bedroom set…doesnt the waiting just KILL you? I just want all the new prettiness to be set up in our room but until then all these decoration ideas keep filling my head 🙂

Have you thought of doing a coverlet for a comfortor, and just adding some patterned sheets and pillows? Keeps your neutral theme but still allows you to add pattern and texture, and, its a lot easier to change up when you find something your little heart desires even more. 🙂 Just a thought.

I REALLY like the Annette Tatum one!! The colours are beautiful, but maybe too feminine than what you're looking for? My next favorite is the one you posted right after the paisley Pottery Barn one but I don't know there was a description for it? Also, I wouldn't worry about the bedding too muted. I think it looks great when the majority of a room's decor is white or close to. Very chic 🙂 Good luck, looking forward to the result! Oh, and if you went with pale bedding you could always add a pop of colour when throw cushions, a rug, and/or artwork.

The first one is beautiful….but also Alessandra in Porcelain Blue from Pottery Barn is also gorgeous. You should look at that one too 🙂

  8. January 24, 2012 / 7:08 am

I vote for the Dwell set in the light blue or the Target one, hope it helps to narrow down your choices 😉

I'm digging the ikat because it's so fresh and modern! But I always have a soft spot for PB's paisley! 🙂

Love the new bed!! I just got mine delivered last week, and I love it!! As far as the bedding I really like the dwell in yellow.

Oh my gosh. I was going to suggest the Dwell bedding (that is tops on my own list!) or the PB paisley. I love both so much! I've found both Dwell and Pottery Barn have beautiful quality bedding – well worth the cost.

Do you live near a Pottery Barn Outlet? I have seen the paisley there at a discounted price. Not a steal, mind you, but definitely less expensive than at a store or online.

Good luck! And question about that bed: does it accommodate a box spring? I'm on the hunt for a bed myself and love that one.

    🙂

    WOW! Such a pretty bed you ordered. I like the ikat and the RH muted one. I think it would look amazing with bold pillows { more classic, too but can switch up trendy pillows??}

  13. January 24, 2012 / 12:12 pm

Loving the ikat and the Dwell one (in yellow). Loving yellow lately. I usually prefer a neutral bed, that way I can change up the shams/pillows/throws for different seasons without the big expense of the comforter/duvet.

  14. January 24, 2012 / 12:46 pm

My vote is for the one from Dwell Studio (botavia something?) All of them are very pretty though. Good luck!

  15. January 24, 2012 / 12:55 pm

I love the Pottery Barn blue bedding you picked out, but have you also looked at Rikshaw Designs? They have some great, soft colored prints that I would die to have. Only problem is that some are a touch more feminine and may be more suited for a guest room. Love the bed!!!

I adore the ikat and the PB paisley. Cannot wait to see what you choose! PS – This bed is now on my list for the future so I cannot wait to see your final review once arrived and set up in your master bedroom.

  17. January 24, 2012 / 2:27 pm

LOVE the bed!!! All of these bedding choices rock – but let me say! My mother-in-law has a similar bed – and the yellow Dwell Duvet set – it looks AMAZING!!!

Any of these will rock! Enjoy girl!

  18. January 24, 2012 / 2:42 pm

I think bedding is the hardest thing to choose when it comes to home decor. My vote is the buttery yellow Dwell Studio pattern. It would look lovely and soft with your new headboard.

  19. January 24, 2012 / 2:43 pm

All of these choices are great, but my personal favorites are the Pottery Barn Paisley and the Neiman Marcus 🙂

  20. January 24, 2012 / 3:11 pm

We have the Pottery Barn paisley print in our guest room (only because they don't have it in Cal. King or it would be on our bed). I love it. The colors are great!

  21. January 24, 2012 / 3:13 pm

I'm kinda loving the Target. If not that then Restoration Hardware (and I believe they're having a sale right now?) I think the Ikat is something you might get tired of.

  22. January 24, 2012 / 3:13 pm

What a tough decision! My favorite would be the Restoration Hardware bedding with a very close second being the Yellow Dwell Studio.

I've been trying to find bedding for the past few months. I haven't found anything I love that is within my budget 🙁

  23. January 24, 2012 / 3:30 pm

I like the PB option with some more modern prints thrown in. You have some great choices, Megan. 🙂

Those are all very pretty. Personally I like to do solid colored comforter/duvet and then add pattern with pillows and sheets…I seem to always get tired of anything patterned and this way I can change up my pillows and sheets and have a whole new look!!!

  25. January 24, 2012 / 3:50 pm

we've got the paisley from PB in one of our guest rooms and love it…it's so cheerful, but in an understated way and pairs well with so many different colors for a pop–with any of the choices you posted, i think you can't go wrong!!!

  26. January 24, 2012 / 4:57 pm

I like the Pottery Barn floral bedding (the one under the paisley) and the Restoration Hardware (muted) set. I'm sure whatever you pick will look beautiful, though. They're all good choices.

  27. January 24, 2012 / 5:51 pm

For some reason I'm drawn to buttery yellows lately and the Dwell Studio bedding is catching my eye. Could be the blandness of winter wanting a little spring color!

    January 24, 2012 / 12:08 pm

I can see why you are torn! They are all so pretty. Personally, I am a sucker for paisley, so I would have to go with that.

  29. January 24, 2012 / 6:21 pm

I received a Dwell Studio duvet set for a wedding gift and we LOVE it. It's so comfortable- expensive, but worth it. I really like the print on the one you picked out from Dwell.

  30. January 24, 2012 / 6:39 pm

So many lovely options!!!! The only thing I will comment on is quality. I have used Restoration Hardware bedding for a couple of year now and I love it! It is high quality, soft, and retains colour even after many washes. Good luck with your decision.

  31. January 24, 2012 / 6:45 pm

I'm partial to the one from Restoration Hardware but if you're worried about it being muted, maybe the Pottery Barn paisley is the way to go? You could draw a few more colors out of that one. Maybe a few pillows of one of the colors but deeper tones?

  32. January 24, 2012 / 6:57 pm

Love the Dwell studio in either color!

  33. January 24, 2012 / 6:58 pm

That Annette Tatum bedding is so gorgeous! I would definitely go with that. However, since beds are supposed to be naturally calming and soothing, I suppose one of your more neutral pallets would be nice. My mom uses the pottery barn paisley ones, and it seems like a nice mix of color but not too overpowering. They look really good in person too!

  34. January 24, 2012 / 7:24 pm

I really like the first option. I just ordered and put in my room and love it. Its classic and timeless. The only bummer is that my rh store didnt have the color in stock so I took the chance and ordered it in Fog (grey and natural tones) and really love it. Its free shipping if you order from the store ($30.00 savings). The other options are great too but may be a little trendy.

  35. January 24, 2012 / 7:44 pm

oh my gosh, wow! what incredible options 🙂 i love all the ikat options. i learned from miss michaela that yellow + gray = a fabulous combination, so maybe the yellow ikat would be a fun choice?!

While all of those options are gorgeous, my vote is for the second Pottery Barn paisley bedding. So pretty!!

Can't wait to see the finished bed!

I ama a sucker for paisley, but it definitely leans towards the traditional (especially with the headboard you've chosen). I would go for an Ikat (I love the yellow). It's not too modern or traditional, and the colours are muted and soft. Can't wait to see what you choose.

  40. {Hi Sugarplum!}
    January 24, 2012 / 6:11 pm

having ordered upholstered chairs from overstock…I'd wait until it arrives to make a final choice. simply because the fabric isn't going to be exactly how the online pic shows it. Mine were def more oatmeal than cream.

And since it's the guest room, I'd choose something affordable so I could change it up whenever I wanted. I'm also more inclined to 'fun it up' since it's not a room used on a daily basis. But all your choices are really pretty!

  41. January 25, 2012 / 1:00 am

I have the taupe Ikat from Neiman Marcus and I love it!!! My bed is also similar….nice taste! 😉 I added some colorful throw pillows to make it pop. Good luck!!

    Katie 🙂

  42. January 25, 2012 / 1:10 am

Such great options! I like the dwell studio one the best too! Looking forward to your review on the bed!

  43. January 25, 2012 / 2:24 am

I love the Restoration Hardware bedding. My best friend just put this in her master in her new home & it spectacular. It is so calming, clean & relaxing….. Beautiful!

The Ikat is beautiful, especially the blue but I am not sure if the blue is what you are looking for. Somehow I see you prefering the other Ikat.

Based on what you've shown, I checked out Horchow bedding and the one I think might really be pretty for your room is the Hyde Park bedding-here is the link:

    http://www.horchow.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=cprod63630018&parentId=cat11950747&masterId=cat000074&index=51&cmCat=cat000000cat000072cat14540732cat000074cat11950747&isEditorial=false

I think it's gorgeous. Horchow also had Luciana bedding that was similar to some of the ones you chose. I really like the Hyde Park Bedding a lot but the Ikat was pretty as well. Can't wait to see what you pick.

P.S. Love to hear a Shellac update (nails) if you go that route.

I am liking the Restoration Hardware pattern because it is muted and sophisticated. I think this one you can pair it other colors throughout the year more easily than the others. OneKingsLane sometimes has some beautiful bedding on sale.

I love the muted RH duvet the most! However, I love the ikat too!

  49. January 26, 2012 / 4:55 pm

I say go with the washed linen duvet from Restoration Hardware in an oatmeal, pair it with the ikat from Dwell pillows and sheets. Finish it off with a different accent pillow and a light blue throw across the base of the bed….

  50. January 26, 2012 / 11:54 pm

Actually, I really like the geometric Legacy print. It just looks like it belongs in your house to me. I wouldn't use the whole set….maybe just a few shams with white sheets and a white duvet, or even a sham or two with the duvet, and plenty of white mixed in. You can't go wrong though…they're all really nice.

  51. January 27, 2012 / 2:32 am

What a neat surprise to see my master bedroom on your post! I get SOOOO many emails inquiring about my bedding, but unfortunately, I bought it on clearance at Pottery Barn about 5 years ago. Needless to say, it's now discontinued.
I love all of your options…I don't think you can go wrong with any of them!

I personally love the Restoration Hardware bedding…my own bedding is a muted french toile and it reminds me of it, I LOVE it! I also just bought a new headboard, it's linen colored from Pier One. I am sure it is going to look fabulous, whatever you choose! Best of luck 🙂

I really like the Dwell set in both colours, though the yellow is more punchy!

Love the bed, I have a similar one but in leather that I got from a local store here. Such a classic style 🙂

Hello! I recenty came across your blog and am really enjoying it as we seem to have the same style when it comes to decorating our homes! So, My husband and I recetly purchased a new bed (similar to yours) and I am having a difficult time finding a duvet that fits well. The last one that I purchased did not cover the sides of the matress how I would have liked it to. It looked silly! Could you please share with me where you purchased yours and are you happy with the size of it? I read that you purchased your cover from RH, could this be where you purchased the duvet too? Thank you!
