Our Gold Christmas Staircase

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed the long weekend.  I spent the better part of Friday and Saturday decorating our home for Christmas and it’s feeling quite festive here.  I went with a metallic gold and silver color scheme, which I’ve never done before, and I really like it.  Today, I’m sharing how our staircase turned out.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that on Saturday night I about gave up on these stairs in the middle of it because I thought it was looking terrible.  But, I got some words of encouragement from Courtney (Courtney Out Loud) that were much appreciated.  I’m glad I stuck with it!

I used garland from WalMart (the same garland I used last year) and then added the string of gold beads from Hobby Lobby.

The gold bells were also found at Hobby Lobby.

I added decorative snowflakes and star ornaments that my mom gave me.  The pine cones provide a natural element.

Gorgeous! You've convinced me… our next home must have stairs if only for the holiday decorating!

Sweet decor. I love the star ornaments. My only problem with stairs are that they're awesome to decorate but a pain to climb 🙂

It looks wonderful. 🙂 I love the new color scheme. I used those beads in red last year, and they do add a nice touch. 🙂 I'm still trying to get my house straight before I decorate. Now, that's a hot mess!

That looks so great — and I'm tired just imaging how much work it must have been! But what a treat to see every time you walk through the door!!! Is it bad that I was busy squinting at the photos in the background…trying to get a peek at your wedding? 😉 You and I are nothing if not super observant of pics! 🙂

I think it turned out really pretty. I've always loved the gold at Christmas.

I did something similar many years ago in my home; I had a maple railing and did garland with a gold sheer wire ribbon (gives it some substance)-the gold organza ribbon had gold and silver threads in it. I used white lights on the garland and then hung crystal and glass ornaments (some were clear and some had gold or silver on them, mostly gold)on the garland. The gold looked amazing with the maple staircase. They shimmered and caught the light and it was truly breathtaking.

I loooove your staircase. We are a few years away from building and this is at the top of my MUST list! 🙂 It looks fantastic!

  34. December 4, 2011 / 6:39 am

beautiful job! I never would have known it was a 'mess' in the middle of it. Same thing happens to me ALL the time!

  35. December 12, 2011 / 11:34 am

That is an amazing idea. And while I know this is just for a Christmas idea you could also do it for a bit of romance. Maybe put some loving message to your partner going up the stairs to the bedroom.

Home stair lift to ensure a comfortable and safe flooring, access, and provide built-in remote control operation. This is a good elevator lifting capacity, a comfortable seat, adjustable arm width, and so on.
