Our Gold Christmas Staircase
Hi everyone! Â I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed the long weekend. Â I spent the better part of Friday and Saturday decorating our home for Christmas and it’s feeling quite festive here. Â I went with a metallic gold and silver color scheme, which I’ve never done before, and I really like it. Â Today, I’m sharing how our staircase turned out.
If you follow me on Twitter, you know that on Saturday night I about gave up on these stairs in the middle of it because I thought it was looking terrible. Â But, I got some words of encouragement from Courtney (Courtney Out Loud) that were much appreciated. Â I’m glad I stuck with it!
And now the tree is up where the chair and table were:) Â If you’d like to look at last year’s stairs, you can go HERE.
Wow, it looks awesome. Great job, inspiring!
Gorgeous! You've convinced me… our next home must have stairs if only for the holiday decorating!
Sweet decor. I love the star ornaments. My only problem with stairs are that they're awesome to decorate but a pain to climb 🙂
amazing. no hot mess anywhere. pure bliss. enjoy each and every time you use that beautiful staircase.
ho ho ho
Looks great! So gorgeous and classic, I love it. Your staircase is stunning as well – I love a beautiful Christmas staircase, and yours is no exception!
Oh I think it looks GREAT!!! So festive and what a statement on your stairs! What I would give to have a staircase like that! 🙂
So glad you kept going because they look just incredible! I love the addition of pine cones and the beads. Such great different elements and texture.
That is definitely my dream staircase! I love the gold…we're doing lots of metallics this year, too!
You have one serious staircase to decorate!! I put garland up this weekend too…..it's a much bigger job than one might think! Here is mine http://www.limefreckle.blogspot.com
I think yours look fantastic, lovely touches, love the big bells!
That looks beautiful!!! What a masterpiece!
It looks wonderful. 🙂 I love the new color scheme. I used those beads in red last year, and they do add a nice touch. 🙂 I'm still trying to get my house straight before I decorate. Now, that's a hot mess!
It looks beautiful and makes such a statement when you walk in the front door I'm sure!
I love it! It looks so beautiful. Great job!

staircase looks great! Its not too much…just enough.
I think you did such a good job! The gold beads are my favorite- they keep it from looking cliche by adding such a dash of fun. And i think the bells are done really tastefully. It looks really great!
It's beautiful, Megan! It's elegant! I picture you coming down that staircase in your glamorous dress heading out for a holiday party.
That looks so great — and I'm tired just imaging how much work it must have been! But what a treat to see every time you walk through the door!!! Is it bad that I was busy squinting at the photos in the background…trying to get a peek at your wedding? 😉 You and I are nothing if not super observant of pics! 🙂
So beautiful, Megan!! I love the color scheme and your attention to detail with the small ornaments, beads, etc. You really did a great job this year, although I loved last year's staircase too! Can't wait to see the tree next week! : )

This is gorgeous!! I love it.
Very pretty! I have some bells like yours that the hubs got at Lowe's. I put them on my big wreath on my gate outside. Looking forward to seeing your tree.
I love your staircase! This makes me want to build a staircase somewhere in my house just so I can decorate it for christmas. Awesome!
Yay!!! I'm so excited that I won!!! First time for everything, I guess. Thanks for the opportunity. Your stairs look lovely, btw!!!
It looks so beautiful! I'm definitely getting out the Christmas bins this weekend!
It looks wonderful! You did such a great job!
I think it turned out really pretty. I've always loved the gold at Christmas.
I did something similar many years ago in my home; I had a maple railing and did garland with a gold sheer wire ribbon (gives it some substance)-the gold organza ribbon had gold and silver threads in it. I used white lights on the garland and then hung crystal and glass ornaments (some were clear and some had gold or silver on them, mostly gold)on the garland. The gold looked amazing with the maple staircase. They shimmered and caught the light and it was truly breathtaking.
I loooove your staircase. We are a few years away from building and this is at the top of my MUST list! 🙂 It looks fantastic!
beautiful job! I never would have known it was a 'mess' in the middle of it. Same thing happens to me ALL the time!
That is an amazing idea. And while I know this is just for a Christmas idea you could also do it for a bit of romance. Maybe put some loving message to your partner going up the stairs to the bedroom.
