We’ve made a little progress on the dining room over the weekend, and although it’s not complete, I wanted to show you what we’ve accomplished so far. As you recall, we started with this:
The curtains are hung, but they need some work. I mistakenly gave my seamstress the wrong measurement, so they are too long and need to be hemmed. I have them tucked under in the photo, so they don’t look that bad, but they are actually about 10 inches too long. Also, I’m going to have her line them (what was I thinking, assuming I could skip this step since they don’t cover much of the window?)
We bought a new mirror for the space too and I’m liking the clean lines. It’s the Reflection Mirror from Z Gallerie (32×48). I also brought in our console table that was previously in the entryway (musical furniture:)
I haven’t yet decided on a chandelier, but I’m thinking we will be replacing our current one with something that fits the room better. You can go here to see two that I’ve been contemplating and I’ve added the source information. But, throwing a wrinkle into the mix, now I’m liking this one too! It was on sale last week, but sadly, not anymore. Now that we have a mirror, I’m going to keep looking to see what works best.
The room isn’t styled too well yet, but I love the leafy green stems in the vase. I picked them up at the grocery store. I was looking for one of those big banana leafs, but couldn’t find any.
It’s coming along. And the rug is supposed to arrive tomorrow! Now I’m pondering:
*Something on either side of the mirror (sconces??)
*Art for the other walls
*Painting the walls
*Accessories for the console table
*Table linens (runner)
*Pillows for accent chairs
*Chandelier
Hopefully we’ll pull it together in time for the holidays! And speaking of holidays, are you getting excited???
How’s your week going friends?  I’m just over here counting down the days ’til the 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale like a kid at Christmas!  It’s so close, opening this Thursday for cardholders.  ??I got a friendly letter in the mail letting me know they upped my limit just in time for the sale- #thankyouverymuch!  We’ll keep this little detail to ourselves and not bother the hubby with that tidbit of info!  😉  Are you excited?!?! Of course, I’ll be sharing my picks on Thursday and then a big ‘ole dressing room round up on Friday with fit tips and recommendations. Let me know what you have questions about and I’ll do my best investigative journalism for ya!
This swingy striped! cold shoulder dress is perfect for daytime or evenings out. Â Love the simplicity of it and the drapey fabric. Â Such a steal at right under $50! Â For a daytime look, you could wear it with the #10 sandals (they have lots of colors) & for evening, these black open toe heeled sandals would be great.
Show off your summer mani with this gorgeous, chic statement ring! I like to wear it on my first or middle finger on my right hand with a bold bracelet.
I’m sure you’ve heard me rave about this maxi dress before. Â Every time I wear it, I get tons of compliments and it’s really flattering and comfortable. Â It’s on sale under $40! Â I wear XS.
High waist leggings will be your BFF, I swear! Â They keep you all nice and tucked in and make you feel great while working out. Â Zella quality is always superb, and this pair comes in three colors with criss-cross detail at the calf. Â They run TTS, I wear size XS.
Although I normally wear a tank to workout, this Zella tee is my go-to when I want a t-shirt. Â The seams in the shirt are perfectly placed to help the illusion of a smaller waist and I like the cut of the sleeves that don’t irritate me when I’m working out.
My go-to tank, $11!!! Â I think I need to stock up on the other colors. Â It’s perfect for wearing alone or layering under cardigans or other tops. Â It fits TTS, XS here.
I have the older version of these sandals and they are really good! They come in tons of colors and the “beige leather” has a snakeskin pattern that goes with everything. Â Sam Edelman makes quality shoes that last, so I highly recommend them!
Here we are, back to Monday, friends! That weekend sure flew by, but it was jam packed! I have a feeling most weekends are going to feel this way since…
Hi friends and happy Friday! I’m sure lots of you are busy with work parties, gift exchanges, and holiday classroom parties today! The Friday before Christmas is such a fun…
I love wedge sandals for summer. For starters, I’m really short (5’1) so I love the height they give. Plus, they are generally more comforable than heels and dressy enough…
Busy mornings are typical in most families and ours is no exception. I’m a coffee-first-thing-in-the-morning kind of gal, but I also never go without breakfast. A super quick and healthy…
While shopping Overstock for a lounge chair and chaise for our master sitting room, I realized just how much of the decor in our house is from accessible places like…

It's really coming along! I like all of your choices. However, what about moving the mirror to a smaller wall and putting several (3-4) framed and matted pictures across the wall in a row? Maybe botanicals or black and whites? That would have a huge impact I think.
I like the idea of sconces on either side of the mirror, and my choice of lighting would be number two, or a combo of two and three-chandelier with a shade, one of my favourite looks. I want to be a creepy copycat and duplicate your whole house for myself. Love everything!
Love the drapes! They go great with the room! Are you planning on the curtain rod going all the way across the top? That's how I have mine and my window is much longer. It's makes the room look bigger….just a suggestion. 🙂 I also love the choices you have for the new light.
long time lurker here…never before commented…..LOVE the room, love your whole house! I think sparkly chandelier from Pottery barn is beautiful, I do agree that some extra "twinkle" would really look great with the mirror!
Looking so nice. I like all 3 of your new fixture choices, but the PB one looks like it might be a little too small for your space. I love, love your molding and the curtains look so nice. (I stole the idea from your living room and am ordering fabric (Braemore Fioretto) right now to make mine! So thanks!)
LOVE the new chandelier. Its just like its made for your table. Go for it even if not on sale! 🙂 I was the one who wanted your original one to stay but this is just so perfect!
love your console table. So chic & functional! Could you share where you bought it?
What a lovely space. The panelling and your furniture are both classic and so elegant. I like the fabric you've chosen for your curtains (I just lined my own!! not sure why I skipped it either 🙂 I think a few more layers will really show off your style.
The drapery fabric is so pretty in there!!! I'm totally cracking up that you mis-measured by 10 inches!! the mirror is so pretty, I think sconces on either side would be great, and I'm in favor of switching out the chandy. Sorry Jimmy. 😉
The room is beautiful. I noticed in your list of things yet to do, you said you wanted to paint the walls. I was going to ask you what colors were on the walls ! I love the paint color on the upper wall, as well as the white on the bottom half !
Your house is beautiful. I would add a colorful tray on the console with some bottles and cool glasses. You need a bar area right(?). The mirror looks a little lonely on the big wall I agree, so adding sconces sounds nice or bring in some color through art. Can't wait to see what you do
Its looking great! I LOVE the drapery- Im so glad you picked that fabric!! and I LOVE that Pottery Barn chandy too! one of my clients is going to put that in her laundry room.
Hey girl. I really love the fabric in that room. Beautiful. I LOVE the PB chandy and just recommended it to a client. SO pretty. Your room is really shaping up {it's already so pretty!}.
Your dining room is looking fanastic! I love what you have already done! The curtains are so lovely! Can I ask where you bought the curtain rods? I would like some short ones like those, they look great! Thanks.
I pretty much "pin" everything on your site 🙂 I adore the curtains and that Pottery Barn chandelier made me GASP. I am so in love, I had to run and show my husband. You have a beautiful house and impeccable style! I think your dining room is coming along nicely; it's smart to take your time and purchase only what you love. Can't wait to see the final product!
Megan – Super late in commenting, but I'm looking for a seamstress in Houston to sew some (lined!) curtains for our house, too. Could you pass along your lady's name or make any suggestions? I'm sort of at a loss on how to start finding one! Thanks!

The fabric for the curtains is beautiful – good call lining them. And thanks for sharing your measuring mistake – it's all part of the process!
We have the large version of this chandelier in our bedroom and love it…

Hi Anon- you can read about our paint colors here- sometimes I edit the photos, so the color may not be as true as it would be in your home.
