Simple Nightstand Update

Do you notice anything different between this photo  . . . image And this photo?  Nightstand 013  If you didn’t, don’t worry, my husband didn’t either!  Before he went to bed, he asked me what I was doing.  I said, writing a post about the changes to the nightstand.  What changes?, he replied.  Well, the changes are rather small.  I switched out the lamp shade for a larger one, got a new clock, and put away the books I’m not currently reading.   See? Before image After image  A few simple changes for a nicer look.  Our nightstands are too small for our new bedroom, but they fit perfectly in our old, smaller room.  It’s always bugged me that there wasn’t more surface area on them.  After I add a glass of water and my glasses (that I wear after I take out my contacts) there’s no room left.  Heaven forbid I need a box of tissues!  For now, they’re staying, but wouldn’t a mirrored nightstand be perfect here?  And although the new clock is much prettier, I can’t see what time it is in the dark!  Ug.  Source List Bed: Z Gallerie Nightstands:  Crate & Barrel Clock:  Pottery Barn, but Courtney {A Thoughtful Place} found one almost identical at Home Goods.  Lamp and shade, bedding:  Target Magazine basket:  West Elm

Do I win a prize if I spotted all the changes!!! Nice work my friend! Funny, I just did bigger lampshades on our side tables as well! Clock looks great.

Okay, Courtney wins! I spotted two out of the three changes (missed the lampshades). Noticed the new clock right away…maybe because Courtney had just done that post about hers. Figured maybe you'd run out to get one at Home Goods too, LOL. The changes look great. I am actually thinking about changing ours a bit too, but with a twist. Umm…maybe a new post is in order once done.

I like that the nightstands have open storage. My books sort of get piled on top. :s

    Looks great!
I just added a similar clock, and feel like those little changes make a big difference. My husband wouldn't have noticed if I didn't show it to him though

Just a thought… you could add a round mirror to the top of your nightstands, making them into more of a table (but still have the drawer & shelf underneath). I've done that with a small table ~ I painted it, then added a round wood tabletop on top to make it more functional.

And, my husband wouldn't have noticed either! I don't even try to get him to notice the little things anymore 🙂

I didn't notice the lampshade at first. But I did notice the clock and that is was straightened up. Little changes make a big difference, maybe not to the hubbies but to us.

That's funny, when I was studying the first pic I thought "Hmm, those lamps would look better with bigger shades. Wonder if Megan and I are friends enough for me to be able to tell her?" 🙂 And you did…total blogger bffs. 🙂

I have those same lamp bases, but a little smaller. They are in the living room, but I think will move to Sloan's new room. Assuming it ever gets to the 'accessorizing' stage?!?!?

Oh, and I blogged you today!

It's the little things that count! My husband probably wouldn't notice if I changed the entire room!

I love the larger lampshades, smart idea. You have the space for chest as nightstands, but then what do you do with the lovely ones you already have? I hate when that happens, trying to make stuff work from one house to another. Well it looks beautiful as they are. Nice job Megan.

I thought the lamps looked better in the second picture, If I had the space in our room I would do a small desk as one of the nightstands, I have the perfect one in my garage waiting to get some love, but it won't fit.
Love your headboard!! Your room is fabulous! I've been meaning to ask you if you built in an established neighborhood.

The new lampshades are the perfect size! I would love to use a cuter clock in our bedroom, but I am always paranoid that I am going to set the alarm wrong on it (and can't see it in the dark, like you said)! And your bedding is fab.
