Baby James {6 Months}

My sweet little guy will be six months old on Saturday.  Six. Months. Old.  It’s so true what they say . . . makes me glad I am able to stay home with him.  A roly-poly baby is in our midst.  As soon as James turned 5 months, he started rolling from his back to his tummy, usually on the right side.  Now he’s also going from tummy to back.  He started doing baby “push-ups” and can lift his whole chest off the floor and get on his knees.  He’s “swimming” and gets around on the floor pretty well, although he goes backwards!  We had to add the bumper to the crib because his arms and legs were getting stuck in the bars.
In the last month, James:

  • went from sleeping swaddled on his back to a side sleeper to a stomach sleeper (so stressful for this new mommy!)
  • started going to sleep in his crib without being rocked to sleep first (at night)
  • scoots backwards
  • reaches for things, holds things, mouths everything (especially loves “eating” mom and dad’s face!)
  • is so interested in everything going on around him
  • can identify his bottle and reaches for it, opens his mouth, and tries to hold it himself
  • watched cartoons for the first time and was mesmerized
  • recognizes mom and dad
  • got his first tooth!

He has a doctor appointment soon so I’ll update this post with his height and weight- but he’s a big guy- I’m guessing 18 pounds.
James seriously has the best temperament.  He wakes up happy, just talking to himself in his crib until I go and get him.  He’s always got the biggest smile for me- I look forward to seeing it every morning.
He’s now eaten: rice cereal, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, carrots, bananas, and sweet peas.  Um, don’t think he liked the sweet peas very much.

He still enjoys the exersaucer.  Look at those little hands!  That face!  The Hair!!

Tried out the high chair, but it’s still a bit too big for him.  Check out those pj’s – size 12 months!  And stands SO BIG with mommy.

  1. 6 months!!! Congrats, mama! I know that these milestones are so awesome for us mommies. Your little guy is just too cute. The rest of this year is just going to FLY! Better start planning that 1st birthday… 🙂
Love that monogram project. So creative.

  2. He is so stinkin' caaaauutte! And, the hair…omgoodness, my girls did't have that much til they were 2. Enjoy it all, it goes by very quickly.
On a side note, I was in Target yesterday and was looking at scrapbook paper they had and came across a book of paper called animal crackers…reminded me of James' room!

  3. He is adorable – and all that hair! I was so happy that we had an exersaucer – I kept mine near the washer and Will played and played while I did the laundry. As a fellow former professional, it is wonderful to be a SAHM. Enjoy every moment of it.

  4. They grow and change so fast! He is adorable and has the sweetest smile. Try to take lots of video, you get so caught up in each stage it can be easy to forget the little things they do. I held my friends newborn baby not long ago and I couldn't believe I ever had one, mine is 4.
    Ejoy the weekend!
