Some friends and I hosted my sister-in-law’s baby shower over the weekend. My sista is the best and has a cool, funky sense of style. She’s having a girl, Miss V, and doing the nursery in an owl theme. Here’s some pictures we snapped at the shower.
The entryway was adorned with a clothesline holding adorable onesies.
Inside the formal dining room is where the gifts were stored until time to open.
All of the guests signed future birthday cards to be opened by Ms. V on her 1st, 5th, 10th, 16th, 18th, and 21st birthday. I can’t take credit for that idea, but I thought it was fun and everyone enjoyed writing special sentiments.
Of course we played, “Guess Mommy’s Tummy Size” (how cute is that colored yarn?!)
And ate yummy treats (one of the creative hostesses designed these cute little food display cards and the invite). The shower was from 2-4, so we made appetizers (mini quiches, chicken salad croissant sandwiches, and fruit skewers). Mimosas and wine were also served.
Jelly beans filled these decorative jars from Home Goods.
The cupcake toppers were from an Etsy shop (I’ll have to ask for specifics and update later).
Pretty flowers were a must.
Even the itty-bittiest guests had fun!
How’s your week going friends? I’m just over here counting down the days ’til the 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale like a kid at Christmas! It’s so close, opening this Thursday for cardholders. ??I got a friendly letter in the mail letting me know they upped my limit just in time for the sale- #thankyouverymuch! We’ll keep this little detail to ourselves and not bother the hubby with that tidbit of info! 😉 Are you excited?!?! Of course, I’ll be sharing my picks on Thursday and then a big ‘ole dressing room round up on Friday with fit tips and recommendations. Let me know what you have questions about and I’ll do my best investigative journalism for ya!
This swingy striped! cold shoulder dress is perfect for daytime or evenings out. Love the simplicity of it and the drapey fabric. Such a steal at right under $50! For a daytime look, you could wear it with the #10 sandals (they have lots of colors) & for evening, these black open toe heeled sandals would be great.
Show off your summer mani with this gorgeous, chic statement ring! I like to wear it on my first or middle finger on my right hand with a bold bracelet.
I’m sure you’ve heard me rave about this maxi dress before. Every time I wear it, I get tons of compliments and it’s really flattering and comfortable. It’s on sale under $40! I wear XS.
High waist leggings will be your BFF, I swear! They keep you all nice and tucked in and make you feel great while working out. Zella quality is always superb, and this pair comes in three colors with criss-cross detail at the calf. They run TTS, I wear size XS.
Although I normally wear a tank to workout, this Zella tee is my go-to when I want a t-shirt. The seams in the shirt are perfectly placed to help the illusion of a smaller waist and I like the cut of the sleeves that don’t irritate me when I’m working out.
My go-to tank, $11!!! I think I need to stock up on the other colors. It’s perfect for wearing alone or layering under cardigans or other tops. It fits TTS, XS here.
I have the older version of these sandals and they are really good! They come in tons of colors and the “beige leather” has a snakeskin pattern that goes with everything. Sam Edelman makes quality shoes that last, so I highly recommend them!
To celebrate YOU and thank YOU for reading, commenting, and following along on my new blog, I’m doing a GIVEAWAY! This blog is a labor of love and I sincerely…

Hi friends! I hope your week is going well! I have an impromptu date night tonight, and after not seeing Brian since before Spring Break, I’m super excited for it! …

I love the cards for future birthdays idea. So sweet and so cute. This shower looks so beautiful! Hope you gals had fun – and congrats to your sister-in-law! 🙂
Love the Owl theme…very unique. My oldest daughter is a KSU Owl! The idea of having everyone sign cards for significant future b-days is AWESOME! Will have to tuck that one away in the brain for future reference.
This is so sweet. The assorted candy jars are adorable and could be really cute in a little girls room (up high on a self, of course) (: And the cards for her different birthdays is genius!
Oh, what a nice party! And I love that idea of buying the cards and everyone signing them, that is a great idea. Also, that house is nice!! 🙂 Best, Gloria
