One Room Challenge | Week #5

Well, it’s really down to the wire now, seeing how this is our last week to work on getting my home office ready for the big reveal next week!  We’re on Week #5 of 6 of the One Room Challenge where my home office is making its transformation from this to the sneak peeks you see here today. Thankfully, almost everything is falling into place!  And I do have some very cool pieces of the puzzle I can’t wait to share with you today, but I don’t want to give it all away.  Hopefully, y’all will come back next week to see the entire room in all her glory!
Last week made a big difference when the trim was painted Farrow & Ball Lichen in high gloss. That shade of green is so luscious and gorgeous, a definite home run with zero second-guessing.  I contemplated painting the doors also and was glad to get your input, but ultimately decided not to paint them since there are three doors in the room and I’m feeling like the trim really stands out against all the white (including the doors).  But, I do have extra paint should I change my mind in the future.
So, let’s check out some of the other updates since last week!
The art from Minted arrived, and, although I originally ordered matte brass frames, that color wasn’t available in time, so we had to go with the next best thing, champagne.  When I opened the package, I thought the champagne looked a lot like silver, but now that the art is hung, it does seem champagne and looks great with the painted trim.  The pieces here are Palm Tree Art ‘White Hot by Erin Beutel’ and Small Abstract Art ‘Weathered’ by Melanie Severin.  I also have a gorgeous large print to hang above my desk that is stunning!

The pillow covers I showed you last week have now been properly stuffed with 20×20 down inserts. I’m so thankful to have generous sponsors to help make this room transformation possible. Arianna’s pillows are totally luxe and so well made.  We have two in the nursery also and they are beautiful.
Another thing I’m so excited about is the lucite and gold drapery rod.  It was custom made to fit our window by LuxHoldups.  It’s actually two lucite bars held together by that piece in the middle to support its weight since it’s so long.
I made sure to hang the rod near the top of the crown molding to make the window appear larger. The drapes are currently being altered and pressed and I’m supposed to pick them up tomorrow.
One thing I’ve been stuck on lately is styling the etageres.  There are two of them that flank my desk and I got a start by bringing in some of my decor books, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten!  I want them to look interesting, but also clean and not too cluttered.  And I’m trying to make sure both sides balance each other out and have a proper amount of symmetry.  I know I’m spending way too much time pondering these shelves!

I’m happy to gain some practical storage in this white and gold two-drawer chest.  It will go on the wall opposite my desk.  I can put all my crafty tools inside, along with documents and other papers.
Finally, another piece of gorgeous jewelry for the room arrived and was installed; this glorious light fixture.  I knew from my mishap with the light fixture in our baby’s room, that size matters! I needed one that wasn’t too big and didn’t hang down too low.  This chandelier was adjustable and we got it hung at just the right height.  I’m in love with the statement it makes in the room!
Are you getting the feel for how this room is going to look when she’s all finished?!  I can’t wait to get it finished also and show you the outcome!  See you next Wednesday for the reveal!  In the meantime, you can see what I’ll be working on until then:

Install drapery rod
Receive and hang drapes (getting them altered and pressed as we speak)
