2 Summer Dresses & Genius Backless Bra

I get especially giddy blogging when I have something extra special to share with you.  Sometimes it’s more personal and weighty, sometimes it’s sentimental, or maybe just a household tip, like how to keep your hydrangeas thriving or the best place to print your photos.  But when I find something that can make your everyday life better, like the perfect t-shirt bra (wireless but still lifts) and the forget-you’re-wearing-them undies that actually stay put, that’s fun too because it’s so dang useful!  Honestly, there’s nothing worse than uncomfortable undergarments. #amIright?  What are friends for if they can’t share these kinds of things?!

I’m back today sharing a genius solution I just discovered for wearing backless or back exposed dresses!  Honestly, where have I been?! I always thought those style dresses and tops weren’t for me because I like need to wear a bra and I never thought a backless bra would support my larger chest.  But I found one that does and I’m so obsessed with it that I’m shouting it from the rooftops!  I really wanted to share the two dresses, but you can’t talk about the dresses without acknowledging what’s going on underneath!  I know for me, when I would see someone wearing a backless dress, I’d always wonder how she pulled it off.

So, see this lovely royal blue dress?  It’s stunning from the front, but wait till you see the back!

See how it ties up at the top and then leaves the back exposed?  Really cute, right?!  I never thought I’d be able to wear it because my favorite strapless bra would show. #tacky

The solution is this backless bra that I found at my fave Nordstrom that sticks to your sides with clear sticky tabs and the cups are regular molded foam cups.  They aren’t meant to last forever, but up to 25 times, so we’ll see.  I couldn’t believe how well they actually stick to your skin, but don’t hurt when you pull them off.

BRA SIZING & FIT : It’s recommended that you size up, so I tried my normal size D and the DD, but my regular size D fit me best.   A & B cups have push-up pads, C-DDD cups don’t.

I also paid attention to the reviews by Nordstrom customers that said if you’re bigger chested, it will help the bra stay in place better if your top or dress is fitted.  I tested this backless bra with another dress below (the yellow one) where the top isn’t as fitted as in this blue dress, and you’ll see it provides coverage, but not as much support as with the blue dress.

I’m just happy to have this world of backless dress options available now!  Did you think it was closed for you too?

Below is the yellow ruffled dress I mentioned above. The backless bra worked better than my strapless one because it’s low cut and my strapless bra was showing.  You can discreetly safety pin the top of the dress closer together if you want more coverage.

I’ve had this bag for years and it’s no longer available, but I found this new woven bag that is similar in size and so cute, and under $60!

I’ve wondered about those backless bras for so long, I can’t believe I’m just now getting around to trying them out! And I can’t believe they actually work!  Have you tried them? What did you think?

  1. That yellow dress is stunning on you! Wow! I could never wear yellow myself but it looks so, so good on you!

  2. Absolutely gorgeous dresses! My only advice is be careful. I had a backless bra similar to this one I bought at Nordstrom’s. I wore it 3 times and absolutely adored it. On the 4th try it started to fall off of me in the middle of a fancy dinner. It was really embarrassing! I loved it while it lasted but the 4th use had me walking oddly to the bathroom in a hurry as the bra slid down my front. And, once it starts to fall, there really is no graceful way to put it back in place…Hope this one lasts longer!

      1. Please do! I would love to know if mine was a fluke or if they really do hold up more than a few wears.

  3. Love this blue dress! I’m curious – I have to wear flats because my boyfriend is the same height as me. What kind of flats would you recommend – and what sort of jacket/sweater would you pair with this? Thank you!!
