New Marble Dining Table

Hi! How was your weekend?!  I started mine with hot yoga again and let me tell you, this time it was HOT!!  The first session we were in a huge room and it took it much longer to heat up and even then, it didn’t feel that hot.  But this time, it was a small room and immediately when I walked in, the thermostat said 96!  I was sweating so much the entire time, I couldn’t even keep my face wiped dry! But, the class seemed to go by faster and before I knew it, the hour was up!  I really enjoy this new way of working my body, so I’m gonna keep going! You just feel really good when you’re done.

Saturday night, I got the chance to go see Seinfeld perform and, of course, he is hilarious!  I laughed so much I cried all my mascara off!  I particularly love all the marriage jokes and how he made fun of men’s instincts (NONE!) with baby!  Ha! It reminded me of this post!  The opening act, Mark Schiff, was equally as funny and I urge you to go see them if you get a chance!

V-Neck Tee XS ($24) | Bootcut Jeans (budget version) | Heels | Hoop Earrings | Kendra Scott Boone Ring |  Lipstick (Brave) | Gloss (Tickled Pink) | Nail Color (Lanai-ing Around) New Fave!! | Faux Leather Reversible Tote

The V-Neck Tee is back in stock and in a new pretty color (called ‘grey mist’, but it actually looks like soft aqua) after selling out so quickly during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  It’s super soft and think and looks good with a small tuck in the front. I’m tempted to buy it in black and heather grey too!

I make a quick trip to Nordstrom this weekend, and have a big dressing room post coming up for you on Friday.  Here’s a sneak peek at one of my faves!  This faux leather moto jacket is 35% off, normally $98, but on sale now for under $60! It’s soft leather with a slim, shorter cut with super cute zipper detail.  I love the edgy chic style and it comes in 4 colors.  Definitely size up though, because it runs small.  I’m wearing size Small here.

This suede moto jacket was also killer!!  It comes in this vibrant red and four other colors, but I’m really dying over the light tan called “coffee bean”.  It’s so luxe and soft on and gorgeous!  The collar, belt and zip sleeves are all special touches that make it unique- although the belt is removable.  I’m wearing size Small in this one, but would actually go with my usual size XS so it would be more fitted.

But it’s been so warm here lately, I don’t even know if I’ll get a chance to wear a jacket again anytime soon! I’m sure you guys up north are OVER the cold and snow (I remember when I lived in Ohio that the novelty wears off quick)!  I was in shorts this week!
The criss cross detail on this top is a nice change from your basic tee.  It’s incredibly soft and fits TTS (I’m in XS).  I liked it so much, I bought the long sleeve version too.

And I did get the nueLash in the mail and started using it, so I’ll update you on how it works to grow your lashes after I’ve been using it for a month.  My lashes are pretty short now that I’ve taken my lash extensions off.
On Sunday, I shared how our new round dining table looks in the breakfast room.  You can see the breakfast room ‘before’ here.  It was our family Christmas gift after my husband confiscated our old wooden rectangular table for his office.  I love the way our family fits around the round table and I feel like it’s encouraged us to eat our dinners together more.  It’s easier now that Jordan pretty much eats dinner everyday at about 5:00, so we all eat together as a family of four.

I have a post tomorrow featuring easy, healthy meals! And I will post this month the homemade meals I made for Jordan as a baby and now that she’s 10 months old and able to feed herself more.

I searched forever for a round table and went back and forth a lot because I wasn’t sure a 60-inch table would fit our space, and I thought a 48-inch table would be too small (espeically since we often have a friends over).  So, I took a chance and ordered this 60-inch table and it fits pretty well!  It’s a little tighter than I’d like on the side near our kitchen counters, but still works.
For now, our formal dining room chairs are here, but I ordered these side chairs that will go better and open the space more visually.  We’ll probably keep four at the table for everyday, and the other two will go on the side of the table behind the couch.  I’ll do a full reveal after the chairs arrive!
As for the marble, I was initially concerned it might be too much marble since our kitchen counters are also marble, but the base is wooden, our floors are dark brown as is our kitchen island.  I felt like I wouldn’t know for sure until I got the table here, so I took a chance and ordered it and love how it lightens this room!  You do have to be somewhat careful with marble, so if the kids want to do art projects or something like that here, I’ll have to use a tablecloth.
A piece of furniture like this is a big investment, so I wanted something we’d be sure to use and love for many years to come!  Our old table lasted 7 years until my hubby took it, but it held up well and I’m sure he’ll get lots of use out of it for his office.  Before ordering our table, I considered this (54-inch), this (near identical pedestal base), and this (under $800) – all round options, but without the marble top.
Y’all have asked a lot about the round rug, espeically when it was under the stairs.  In that place, it held up really well, but here, where it’s getting a lot of traffic and I’m always sweeping and vacuuming crumbs up, it’s not doing as well and starting to fray.  I’d say it’s not really meant for a high traffic space.
We are in party planning mode over here and I’m smitten with how the invites turned out! I ordered them from SwankyPress on Etsy.
I also got Jordan this cute birthday outfit (minus the socks).
She’s having a garden party, so I was thinking of maybe setting the tables something like this:
That grass placemat is too cute!  It’s going to be a small party with just family, so we won’t need too many.
See you tomorrow with some healthy meal options!  Have a great day & thank you Martin Luther King, Jr. We ?  you!

  1. Hi Megan, did you have to get the Emannuelle jeans shortened? I am 5"2 and usually buy petites in jeans. I love the way they look on you and I think we are very similar in height 🙂

    1. I have two pair of these- same style, two different sizes for weight fluctuations (25 and 26)! One I bought petite and the length was fine, the other was regular and I had to have hemmed. Thanks so much for reading! Love my fellow shorties;)

  2. Hi, love your blog. I cleaned out my closet over the weekend during the ice storm and now I'm itching to fill it up again with some of those pieces. Anyway, do you mind sharing all the places you searched for a round table? I am looking for a 48 inch round pedastal table and can't find one anywhere. Thanks!

    1. I know and it will be Spring soon!! Did you see the others I linked? I googled and remember searching Overstock, Horchow, Joss & Main, Z Gallerie, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Wisteria, Ballard, West Elm, Home Decorators, Birch Lane, Wayfair! Lots of places!! It's such a big purchase I wanted to look everywhere before deciding!

  3. Love the criss-cross shirt! I had seen it in a dress but the shorts look feels a little less showy. Thanks for sharing – I just ordered the cream/gray and black ones! XO, Amanda @ lifeonlinton.com

  4. Hi! I love the table you chose! I’m in the process of redecorating my kitchen and am thinking about getting a similar table with a marble top from RH. How has the marble held up so far? Are you still happy with the table?

  5. OMG, that’s the exact table I am looking for but base being dark. Please tell me where I can find it!!!!
