Oh man, can we pretty please push Christmas back a week?! I’m not ready!! Every year I proclaim, “this will be the year I have everything together ahead of time” and every year I so do not! I think I’m just gonna stop proclaiming! I do have most of our shopping done and I thought I had all the decorating done, but my son just told me last night that we don’t have enough Christmas decorations at our house.
Um, what?! Don’t you live here?! Did you see all of this?!
But today, I’m turning my attention to New Year’s Eve and what to wear to ring in the new year. In the past, we’ve always stayed in for NYE (with the exception of a casual dinner out a couple years ago), but this year, we’ll be going to a party at our friends’ house to celebrate. It’s a party we can bring our kids to, but with extra babysitters so the adults can party downstairs while the kids play upstairs. Have you made plans yet? I want to dress up, and didn’t have time to go to the store to shop so I ordered several styles to try on in the comfort of my home. 😉
I tried mostly black and white styles because our school is having a “Black & White” Gala in the spring, so maybe I could kill two birds?! The white dresses were stunning and different than what I normally wear- it’s good to do something unexpected once in awhile! There’s still time to order online and get your dress in time for your party, so let’s get to it!
Starting with one of my super faves of the bunch, this sleeveless crochet dress is very cool in person! The crochet detail is fun and nice and thick. I’m wearing my
go-to nude strapless bra with it here, but it shows through the mesh, so you’d need a black bra or those
sticky cups my girlfriends swear by! This dress runs true to size and also comes in wine and off-white.
This lace fit and flare dress is also a contender. It’s kind of hard to see the lace overlay detail, but it’s really pretty and comes in several colors. It’s fitted at the waist and on the shorter side, but the neckline is high so you don’t feel exposed. It runs on the small size, but I still squeezed into XS. If you’re between sizes, size up.
This spaghetti strap dress with sequin detail beading is party ready! I love this flattering style that you can still wear a thin strap bra with, but I’m in
my strapless bra here. You’d be able to easily dancet the night away in this dress!
I’m crazy for this fun tiered dress. The quality is superb and the cut is very flattering. I actually already wore this one and got tons of compliments! Size up in it because it runs small, I got 2P.
If you want to show off your um, assets, this dress is for you! And I’m sure it would be my husband’s pick! 😉 I’ve always wanted to try one of these all sequined dresses and what better occasion than NYE?! It’s surprisingly super comfortable and smooth underneath because it’s got a soft all-over lining. The short sleeves give you a little bit more coverage up top, but it’s very revealing and low-cut! It’s probably a dress that would be most flattering on my less busty friends. It comes in 9 colors and I’m wearing the ‘antique gold’ which is a gorgeous warm gold.
This brand is so good for petite sizes and this style of dress is very wearable. The belt cinches in your waist and the flare dress helps create the illusion of a small waist. I also found the v-neckline very flattering. Perfect for a statement necklace (
similar here). Isn’t the color of the skirt so fun and vibrant?!
I showed you this jumpsuit in
my last Outfits Lately post, and it’s just so good I wanted to share it again in case you missed it! A jumpsuit can easily go oh so wrong, like you’re wearing a diaper or worse . . . ?, but this one is good! On the supermodel, it’s ankle length, and on me (5’1, XS) it could still benefit from a slight alteration at the hips. The bodice boning and sticky tabs help keep it up and secure, but you can also wear a
strapless bra just in case.? Dark navy pictured! Necklace was in my

Oh, I love, love, love this short sleeve dress! It’s just so gorgeous and classy and well-made. On my 5’1 frame, it hit just below the knee, which I adore. With my bra, it felt a tad tight in the chest though, and I’m sure the next size up would be too big. Maybe I could try a thinner bra or the
sticky cups?
I also fell a little in love with a long-sleeve dress! It’s perfect if you tend to get chilly or just want something different. The lace overlay is so detailed and you could still wear a regular bra with it, which is always a bonus in my book.
What do you have planned for the new year?! Any of these dresses catch your eye?! Or does staying home in pajamas sound like your idea of heaven?!
Now I’m off to finish my Christmas cards three days before Christmas ?(maybe we should make them
New Years’ Eve cards at this point!), get our shopping and wrapping done, make our Christmas dinner menu and sit back and r e l a x !!!!!
I’ll be taking some time off next week off to enjoy Christmas with our family, so wishing you the Merriest Christmas ever! I hope all your Christmas wishes come true!

I loved the lace fit and flare and the 3 tiered dress, but honestly, you looked great in them all!
Thanks so much Kathy! Happy New Year to you!
How in the world are you ever going to choose? I feel like all of these dresses deserve to stay in your closet. I literally can't pick a favorite.
You are too sweet Ashley! I wore the black sleeveless one! It felt great on and I know I'll get to wear it again!
The spaghetti strap dress with sequins looks amazing on you!!! It's totally unexpected from your usual style, and I love it.
And the white dress with short sleeves looks like it's made for you 😉
Thanks so much Steffi! I appreciate your feedback!
Your son cracked me up last night on Instastories! And your reaction!
You look amazing in the sparkly dress!
Stories is a fun way to interact! Thanks for popping in!
You look great in all the dresses, but I love, love, love the white short sleeve. It look's fantastic! #2 would be the black tiered that you love also. Have a great Christmas.
Thanks so much Karen! Happy new year!
Not a fan of the black tiered but agree with Steffi that the sequin spaghetti strap is gorgeous on you and more unusual.
I like the other sequin dress too, but it certainly takes no prisoners!
I saw someone sew up the top a little to make it less plunging. Great idea!
All of them are great! I vote for the sequin blouse dress with spaghetti straps, the jumpsuit or the fit and flare with purple skirt!
Lots of good options! Not enough parties!
Love all of the black options! It's fun to have a reason for a new fancy dress. They all look great!

Thanks so much Megan! Hope your year is off to a great start!
The fit and flare dress is so pretty–such a '50's throw-back look (that I'm obsessed with). How fun! Can't wait to see which one you go with!

I don't normally go for color so that was a fun one to try on!
They all look great on you, but I love, love, love the sequined, spaghetti strap dress on you. The neckline is so flattering and it looks totally different than what we normally see you in.
Dang! I should've kept that one! I ended up wearing the first, sleeveless one. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!
You look incredible in ALL of these dresses!!! Wishing you the Merriest of Christmas's and a fabulous NYE out!!!❤️
