Christmas Wrap Up

Hi friends!  It’s been almost 10 days since I’ve gotten to chat with you and I’ve missed you!  How was your Christmas?!  We had such a fun time with both Jordan and James this year.  A baby’s first Christmas is always a special occasion and our son is at the very tender age of 6 where he understands that we are celebrating Jesus’ birth and also still believes in all the magic that Christmas brings.  I had to pause several times over this Christmas break just to take it all in and savor every adorable moment.  My heart almost burst out of my chest with love for my family and I’d say it was one of my favorite Christmas’ yet!
The rocking sheep that Santa brought Jordan was a big hit as was the basketball goal for James!

It never fails that babies are always more interested in the boxes!

Later on Christmas day, we had about 20 family members over and ate and drank and laughed and the kids opened more presents!  We divided into two tables to fit everyone.  Our formal dining table seats 10 comfortably with the leaf in and we used our breakfast table for extra seating.

*Update: I got lots of questions about our dining room rug.  It’s from Pottery Barn and we love it!  We’ve had it for 6 years and it’s held up well (although this room doesn’t get a ton of traffic).  The rug is great quality and nice and soft underfoot!

Our wedding china made a pretty place setting with the bright red chargers that are so festive for the holidays.

I couldn’t resist these cute snowmen and birdie at Target this year- so cute!  But I should’ve gotten two little birds!

Our fresh stair garland didn’t last too long, so to quickly and easily embellish the stairs, we added flameless tea lights.  I’m so in love with this easy look!  At first I bought flameless tea lights at Target, but when I opened them, I realized the light was so yellow so I returned them and got these that are much more white.
It’s especially gorgeous at night!  We have to keep the tea lights off the first couple stairs because Jordan was naturally curious about them, but our baby gates are being installed on Tuesday!

Flameless Tea Lights

I’ve eaten so much food and lots of it not good for me this last month that I’m already ready for a detox! But, it’s sure good and fun at the time!  Sometimes people think I don’t eat sweets because of my fitness competitions, but the truth is I have a huge sweet tooth and I love ice cream, cookies, cakes, brownies, toffee . . . you name it!  James loves it too! We got box mixes of sugar and gingerbread cookies this year and decorated them with premade icing.
And now there’s always a little babe nipping at his heels!  Jordan started pulling down our Christmas cards, so we had to move the lower ones to a higher wall!
Thanks for weighing in on the New Year’s Eve dress dilemma! I going with this sassy sleeveless number and we’ll be celebrating with our friends at their house, kids included!  I can’t believe we’ll be in 2017 in just a few days!  And I’ve already started scheming ideas for Jordan’s first birthday party in February!

  1. Love seeing all of these pictures. Jordan with the sweet rocking lamb is precious. Glad you got to spend time with family. I was put on a yeast free and histamine free diet prior to Thanksgiving…let's just say…I so failed on that account. Ready to jump back in the saddle. Quick question…you may have addressed here before. Brows? What product/s do you use? My outer third is thinning due to my autoimmune issues and I haven't found anything yet with great staying power.

    1. Oh yes! My brows are not great without help! I use Mac pencil (color FLING) to fill them in and then Anastasia Brow Wiz to fill in with an angled brush. Before I found that, I filled in with a soft brown shadow, but the brow wiz is amazing and lasts all day. Here's a good video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8A2-W17AME Let me know what you think!

    2. Oops! I meant to say DipBrow, not Brow Wiz! I was putting on my makeup and realized I told you wrong! You can find it at Nordstrom, Amazon, Sephora, Ulta.

    1. It's one scoop protein powder (I use Muscle Milk), 1 egg or egg whites, 1 tsp baking powder- mix it up, spray waffle maker with cooking spray and cook like a regular waffle.

  2. Love your home and style. We bought our baby girl the same lamb for her first birthday…we will see the reaction tomorrow. The pic of Jordan and the lamb is priceless. I also bought the target owls. I nestled, them in the tree and the mantle garland.

  3. I always reading your blog! What a cute family!! Love to see all your ideas etc and read about your fitness ideas. I'm trying to find a rug for under our dining table and have been looking at the natural fiber ones. I noticed yours in the picture and am wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me where you got it and how well you like it? Thanks!

  4. Absoluteky stunning pictures of your beautiful home. What precious memories to have of such a sweet time. I'm looking forward to next Christmas already because our sweet girl will be here to enjoy with us. Great call on the black dress. Happy New Year.

  5. Hi! Love your blog:) I like to hear about your ideas for family fitness and fashion. And im from that area so it's fun to see different places! !
I have a question about the rug in the dining room. Do you like it? And where did you get it from? I'm trying to find a rug for ours and that looks really nice! Is it fairly comfy underfoot?

  6. HI There,

I have been reading your blog since you started it. It's so impressive. I don't know you find time to do all that. You really made your house a beautiful place to live. What a great taste you have. I am very lazy normally to leave comment. I thought I should drop few lines today since you really deserve it.

    Have a great 2017 a head!

  7. So beautiful!!! I really love that little Target bird too. I wish I'd bought one.
On another note, I'm sure you saw it, but just in case, I spotted you on page 8 of the January Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
    Happy New Year!
