Faux Leather Spanx Leggings

Oh hallelujah!  Houston got the memo and now is just showing off with temps getting in the 50s tonight!  And perfect timing because I have a fun post for you today- something a little out of my comfort zone, but worth giving a try - faux leather leggings.  But not just any faux leather leggings, these are by Spanx and we all know how I'm a fan of those

A couple years ago, I went to a girls' sushi dinner and one of my very stylish friends, Angela, wore faux leather leggings with a long tee shirt, cool accessories and looked fab.  That outfit stood out in my mind and I even created a collage look but never bit the bullet to try them for myself until I was gifted a pair of Spanx Faux Leather Leggings#thankyou!

So, let's talk about these faux leather leggings.  First things first- fit.  At first I didn't think I'd be able to even get them all the way on, and worried I should've ordered size Medium instead of Small. They weren't quite as hard to get on as my regular undergarment Spanx, but still a bit of an effort to pull them up over your hips.  But, once I got them on, they felt perfect!  Not too tight at all.  Maybe XS would actually hold me in even better, but I'm happy with how the Small fit.

While I was out wearing them, I didn't feel them pinching or pulling and they were easy to forget you're wearing!  The Spanx part does make you feel quite secure though.  Nice to camouflage any lumps and bumps you might feel self conscious about.

So, what do you wear with faux leather leggings?  Great question.  Anything you'd wear with regular leggings!  I'm team #coverthebum so I want a top that's long enough to not feel exposed. This black cable-knit cold shoulder sweater is awesome and just long enough- in the front and the back.

If you aren't a fan of the faux leather look, they also have camo print, black leopard, and regular black legging Spanx.

Is is just me or are you smitten with showing off your shoulders?!

Another black sweater that caught my eye is the layered look sweater that gives the illusion of a button-down underneath, without the bulk of an additional shirt.  The white part at the bottom is all there is.

That would be a great workplace top with slacks.  I blinged mine out with a bold statement necklace and red lips.

To keep from looking too covered up, I chose a black heel instead of a bootie to show some skin.

Would you (have you) tried faux leather leggings?

  2. I really want to try these! I have faux leather leggings from Forever 21 (yes, they were like $10) that I wear all the time in the winter. I prefer the look over tights under dresses and love how they look with booties. I think they're such a timeless piece that you can wear at any age. And I still can't get over how great your hair looks, friend! Beautiful and sophisticated!

  3. Thank you so much for your awesome posts! It is refreshing to have someone over 40 (I just hit the big 4-0) rocking trends without looking like they're dressing in the juniors section (even though I know we both do) ;) I seriously love everything you model for us and have bought many pieces I never would have bought without seeing them on somebody. Keep on doing what you're doing! And your kids are freakin' adorable too...I miss those ages (mine are 13 and 15 and rotten teenagers now) he he!

  4. They're very "Sandy" from the end of Grease (which, in my book is a good thing!)! I might give those a shot this winter...
