Weekend Steals & Style Spotlight : Cold Shoulder

Yippee for Friday!!  Do you have any fun plans?!  We have a jam packed weekend with two birthday parties and a couples date on Saturday night.  It's Houston Restaurant Weeks now until Labor Day, and we'll be going to Cinq at La Colombe d'Or, which I'm super excited about, especially since I've never been.  And, it will be my first 'cheat' meal in a week and I've earned it!  On Monday, I'll bring you a fitness update and share what I've been doing to get in shape (lose fat/build muscle), which is a tricky combo to do at the same time, but I'm trying!

I've got a date night look for you today too, one of my favorite pairings - a cold shoulder top with my go-to bootcut jeans (similar).  Yes, us shorties CAN wear bootcut jeans!  The trick is to get the fit slim, wear heels, and have the length perfectly hit the floor.  Get your bootcut jeans altered in the length if you need to and take your heels with you- it's even better if you wash them first for the most accurate hem.  If your pants leg is puddling at the floor, you'll look squatty. Having them hemmed just right makes you look long and lean. I'm so fond of this jean that I have it in two sizes, 25 and 26 and I'm wearing the 26 in these pics.

In the last post where I'm wearing these jeans, I accidentally linked Joe's bootcut jeans & similar here (both on sale) but then I realized I'm actually wearing years old Citizens of Humanity 'Dita' Petite #oops! which I only found here (but in a darker wash).  The Citizens of Humanity 'Emmanuelle' is very similar and they do come in petite (but a darker wash).  I love the darker wash for the office or when you want to look more polished.

This Kut from the Kloth bootcut jean is a great option for less and also comes in regular and petite. They got lots of positive reviews for being well-priced and flattering.  The Joe's bootcut jeans are also so similar to what I'm wearing that I thought that's what they were when I looked online! I went back and updated that post and apologize for the mistake!

The cold shoulder top is also a winner.  Still sexy by showing just a bit of shoulder and then looser in the middle to camouflage the tacos. It comes in 4 colors and is under $50.

BRA tip:  I don't go without a bra, so for cold shoulder tops, I wear this convertible strapless bra.  It stays on without slipping and keeps the girls up, but starts at size C and goes to G!

I like to keep my earrings simple when I have a bolder necklace, so these round stud earrings are perfect.  There's a pretty cubic zirconia pair here. #blingbling

In these pics you can see what I mean when I was saying there's still so much blonde in my hair because my stylist only did a partial lowlight and only two foils on each side.  But, y'all have convinced me to keep it darker, so on my next visit I'm going to add more lowlights and try to get them warmer so they don't look so ashy.

I changed up the look slightly by pulling my hair back and adding a military jacket.  I like the style and practicality of a military jacket because even when it's sweltering outside, the AC is often on blast inside and I get cold.  My jacket is old by Hinge and their updated version is very similar.  This drapey military jacket by Hinge is currently on sale 45% off, under $50 and it's gotten great reviews for being super soft and slimming.

BP version is great with the same side ruching so you can define your waist more.  Caslon's military jacket comes in regular and petite if you need petite sizing and also black.

I found two great dupes for my Kate Spade sunnies, and get this . . .  only $12!!

I might have a slight major online shopping addiction, but the bright side is I'm always spotting sales that I get to share with you!  I try to keep you updated when things go on sale or I see something at a discount you would like, so here goes:

jeans | shoes | similar bag | necklace | bracelet (similar for less)

This ruffled sleeveless peplum top $44, $26.40 also comes in white and olive.  I'm in XS.

This Bobeau 'cold shoulder' scoop neck tee is only $20.40 now, was $34.  It also comes in stripes (navy/off white or red/brown/offwhite).

How cute is this top?!  It comes in two other colors and also regular and petite.

The pleated racerback on this tank is so cute!  It comes in black and teal also, on sale from $39 to $23.40.

This tie-neck sleeveless blouse (regular & petite) is on preorder on sale from $59 to $35.40.  It's a perfect top for the office that will transition to after work or weekends.

You can never have too many bright white v-neck tees!  This tee by Topshop is 55% off, was $25, now $10.99 and also comes in grey.  Size tip:  Order a size up because they run small (European sizing), I buy 4 US.

If you wanted to buy these AG "the legging" ankle jeans during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but they sold out in your size, they have been restocked in all sizes 23-32 and are currently 33% off, was $245, now $164.

Below are some sales worth checking out this weekend!
