The good thing about a long weekend is that we’re already halfway to the next weekend! But long weekends can also wear you out, so the next weekend can’t come soon enough! For this Wardrobe Wednesday post, I’m sharing 6 ways to wear your black and white striped top.  I love these types of mix & match style posts (they help me be more creative in my wardrobe), and I hope you find style inspiration here! Chances are, you already have a black and white striped top in your closet, of if you’re like me, you have about five, but who’s counting?! I particularly like this one because it’s that perfect casual chic cut with a scoop neck and small front pocket and the fabric is baby soft.  It looks good tucked in, untucked, and even tied, as you’ll see below.
Fit tip: This top runs true to size, I’m wearing XS, but it also comes in petite.
I actually had 10 ways to wear this shirt planned, but didn’t get to shoot all of them, so this will be Part 1 and I’ll share even more ways to wear your striped top soon, including at the office, since I know so many of you work outside the home too. Â Outfit inspiration for the working woman has long been on my list of things I want to share here because I know the struggle to find new ways to wear the things in your closet, having worked in an office for 10+ years before becoming a stay at home mom. Â Wearing a cute outfit at work always makes the work day better!
The first look is something casual that you can surely recreate from items you likely already have, ripped skinny jeans, neutral wedges that keep your leg elongated, a skinny leopard belt and a sassy necklace. Â Leopard and stripes are a winning combo!
With just the addition of a military vest, you’ve got look #2! It’s an added layer of visual interest and will also keep you just warm enough in the cold AC or when the weather gets cooler at night. I searched high and low for a great military vest and this one won out over all the ones I tried because of the quality and I love the deep charcoal color (although it also comes in army green). Â You can also cinch the waist with the side strings.
Fit tip: Â This vest runs big though, so size down one or two sizes. Â I’m in an XXSP.
The next look is easy to pull off – of course black shorts look great with this top, but this pair is special with the scallop hem and quilted fabric detail. They also have pockets and aren’t too short with the 4-inch hem.
I added a pop of color with the bright yellow clutch, which is fun for summer, but you could easily keep the look black and white by carrying a black bag. Wedge sandals dress the outfit up and make it something you could wear out at night or during the day. Â I think this outfit is calling my name for date night!
For an easy breezy summery look, white jeans do the trick.  To keep the outfit from becoming too much white, I added a pinky/coral colored scarf. My scarf is old from LOFT, but they have a new one out that’s very similar in the same pretty coral colors.  It’s also on sale from $34.50 to $20 now.
A lightweight summer scarf is a great alternative to the military vest for keeping the chill off indoors or at the movies. Â Why do they keep it so cold in there?!
For the fourth look, I swapped the scarf for my very favorite jean jacket and added an edgy necklace. Black wedges would also look great with this.  The jacket is the same one I’ve raved about for years, and for a long time it was sold out, but it’s back now in most sizes.  The thing that sets this jean jacket apart is how freaking soft the fabric is.  It isn’t stiff at all and the light color goes with everything.  It also makes it really easy to cuff the sleeves.
Fit tip:I like my jean jacket on the fitted size so it doesn’t look too bulky, but if you want a looser fit or plan to wear it over sweaters, order one size up.Â
This final look just might be my fave! There’s just something so fun about a pop of red! Â This maxi skirt (30% off!) is super soft and has a little bit of a slit so it’s easy to walk in. Even a 5 foot tall girl can appear taller in a maxi if you shorten the length of the top. Â I did that here by tying it in a small knot on the left side.
I wore nude wedges with it, to keep the attention on the skirt and top.
I hope this post provides fashion inspiration for you! Â Do you already have a striped top in your closet? Â What’s your favorite way to wear it?Â

I recently purchased a black and white striped top from Banana Republic and have had trouble styling it so this is perfect!! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
So glad you included the close up photo on the black scalloped shorts. The fabric looks so thick and I like the shorts even better now…also, when you tie the knot in your t-shirts, do you use a small rubberband hair-tie, or just knot it up? I love that look too!! Thanks for your postings…I always enjoy reading your blog with my cup of coffee in the morning!
