Weekend Steals | Mix & Match Summer Outfit Inspo

What’s on your weekend agenda?! Only a friend’s birthday pool party here, and of course, celebrating Dad, which is A-Ok by me!  I hope y’all have a wonderful Father’s Day!
This Mix & Match summer outfit inspiration post is like the wardrobe version of round robin. One thing goes with the next, that goes with the next to end up with several different outfits from just a few things.  I had fun putting this post together, let me know if you like it and I’ll do more of these!
I started with my summer go-to, these cutoff jean shorts that by now the price per wear is probably negative 0.  The plaid top I’m wearing it with below is now 40% off! This blue one is pretty too ($38), and it’s crop length, so you don’t have to worry about it being longer than your shorty shorts.  But a half tuck looks casual chic. 😉
Everything is cuter with tassels and embroidery!
Here’s a round up of tanks and tops I’ll throw on with these jean shorts, basically anything works!
embroidered tassel tank | yellow tank (8 colors, 40% off) | black tank (similar) | similar pendant necklace
But the top I’m most in love with at the moment, because I just want to cuddle around in it all morning and take too long drinking coffee and waking up in is this one.  It does run big, I’m wearing XS, but I like it loose and wasn’t sure how much it would shrink.

So, you saw this embroidered tassel tank above, worn with jean shorts, but it would also go great with jeans and a gold collar necklace (I stay away from long necklaces when the top has tassels so the two don’t compete) and colorful beaded bracelets to bring out the color in the top.  You could choose wedges (20% off) too if you want to elongate your leg and be taller.  That’s me most of the time!

The necklace is from my Rocksbox (1st month free with my code ‘HONEYWEREHOMEXOXO’), but I found a similar necklace here and it’s 40% off with code SWEET.

pretty, right?!
The geometric pattern on these shorts is perfect with the small pattern on the tank.  Not to mention the shorts are 50% off.  I think they run big because I’m size 00 in them.  And I just shared a jumpsuit on Instagram in the same pattern (40% off).  You can follow me there to see my everyday outfits.
I wore this out looking for a new car recently.  Does this outfit say, “give me a good deal on an SUV?” My little car just isn’t cutting it these days. 🙁 I’ve had it for 8 years and I’d drive it forever if it was big enough! Can’t fit kids + stroller + groceries (forget about paper towels or toilet paper) all in at once!  Did you make the leap from car to SUV after kids? Which one do you like? For me, it needs to be on the smaller side since that’s what I’m most comfortable driving and I have a small garage.
I like this bra with a racerback tank so the straps don’t show.
Or for tanks with spaghetti straps like the one below, you can opt for a bandeau or strapless bra to hide the straps, but still keep the girls up.
striped tank | similar jeans (40% off) | similar wedges (50% off) | watch
Maybe the part of me that likes to eat ice cream appreciates an elastic waistband in a still stylish pair of shorts.  This blue color is almost like denim, but more like jean short soft pants! 😉
Doesn’t this white eyelet crop top scream summer?! Just don’t drip my ice cream on it! I’m notorious for spills. :/  I love blue with a pop of orange like in the pendant necklace.
And it also looks great with jeans.
Caslon 3-inch shorts in a navy chevron print are up next.  They’re on sale from $42.50 to $25.49 now.
I just changed out the aqua tank for the navy tee.  I like how the aqua necklace pops against the navy.  And the flip flops had me at hello!
shorts | flip flops | aqua tassel necklace $34.50, $15 | tee shirt 40% off
I must have a thing for flowy, embroidered tops lately.  They are just so easy to wear! And I happen to thing this top goes great with the striped espadrilles.  I wore the top with skinny jeans a couple weekends ago.
And also liked how the top looked with these black shorts. I added bright bracelets to compliment the top and keep it from being too much black and white.
This sleeveless swing tank is easy breezy and great for weekends.  It also comes in grey!
The second look is nearly identical, but I switched up white jeans for white shorts and a sandal with a tad lower heel.
I was sharing my top knot the other day and this sleeveless sweater feels really nice on.  I was wearing it with white skinny jeans, but you can also wear it with shorts for a pretty, pulled together look.

My sweet hubby got me a special Mother’s Day gift this year to celebrate both James and our newborn baby, this initial necklace.  I love it so much and have been wearing it nearly everyday.  It’s pricey, but I found a duplicate initial necklace by Kate Spade for just $58!

  1. I loved this post! I struggle with thinking outside the box with shorts. Good inspiration here! Also, that blue embroidered top has a very similar dupe at Target for much less! My mom got it for me for my birthday and I wear it all the time. (:

    1. I need to check it out! Lately, every time I'm at Target I'm with the baby, so I'm trying to hurry and haven't checked out their clothes. I want to see their bathing suits- my mom said they have some cute ones!

  2. That embroidered tank is so cute! In regards to cars, I don't have kids so I don't know how well these cars work for kids, but smaller than an SUV / bigger than a car but still kind of drive like one are the Honda CRV and the Ford Escape (and Edge is a touch bigger but still not mammoth & easy to drive). Happy car hunting!

    1. Thanks Heather! We were considering the Ford Explorer, which is bigger so it would fit kids, all the things that go with kids, plus my groceries, etc.

  3. Hey I wanted to share about the suv… I am currently shopping for one myself and what I am looking for a is a suv that doesn't feel like a huge truck, I want third row seating for those few times a year we tote other people in the car with us and what I have selected is the Toyota Highlander. I personally prefer the 2010-2013 body style… the newer ones got bigger in my opinion so I am not a fan of them but I think with a car seat stroller and everything else, the option of the third row is great bc with it up you have great cargo space still and with it down it's amazing! Can't wait to see what you decide!

  4. I've driven both the Volvo SUV and the Acadia. Neither of which is too big (I'm only 5'2"). I've found the Acadia seats easier to maneuver (ie, put up to seat more people or down to have more cargo room). Acadia seems to be a little better on gas.

  5. We got an SUV once the kids came along. First a '99 Expedition (really hated it) and now an '05 Honda Pilot which I love. Functionally, it's like a station wagon with some ground clearance (which I need on the gravel roads). I'm tall, but I hate having to maneuver and park a large vehicle. It's the perfect blend of big enough to haul kids and groceries, and small enough to park in the tiny little parking spaces that are the norm.

  6. Love this post! As for the suv, we test drove almost every one out there and bought a Honda CRV. I am short and loved how the head rest fit my head lol! It is smaller and doesn't feel like driving a tank.

  7. I've driven SUVs for years. A couple Jeeps, a Ford Expedition (no longer made), we have had Hummers (big and small, again no longer made), a BMW X5 (I drove for 11 years) and lastly another Jeep Grand Cherokee (got tired of the expensive repairs to the 11 year old BMW). My youngest drives a Jeep too.

You need to drive several different types!!! My oldest is 5'4" and my SIL is closer to your height. There were some that neither of them felt comfortable driving due to their height (too hard to get in, to high to lift stroller comfortably, couldn't see over front end, etc).

You probably want either a compact SUV or a mid-size. Decide on price range and then GO DRIVE THEM!!! I would even suggest trying to take the stroller in and out. My brother bought my SIL one and then ended up trading in quickly because she had such a tough time getting things in and out of the back.

  8. We had our third child 10 months ago and I refuse to give up my car for an SUV. I love my car! And I'm a shorty so I am uncomfortable whenever I drive my husband's SUV and it's such a hassle stepping up and down to get the infant seat in. Also I hate parking a big car! We ended up getting Diono carseats for my 3- and 5 yr olds and the baby Britax is in the middle. They fit well in my BMW 3 series. I use a BOB double stroller and just take off the wheels before putting in the trunk – takes 2 min. You can definitely make it work!

  9. So I have a complex with vehicles. I am short (5'1") and need to have a big vehicle. The more metal around me the better. I would drive a hummer if they were still made. All that to say, I also have a small garage (we live in a townhouse) and drive in crazy Atlanta traffic- I traded my Jeep Liberty for a minivan. I always said I wouldn't be a minivan mom, but I love it. Changing diapers on the floorboard was a breeze and I never have to think twice about doors hitting in a parking lot, and the back door serves as an umbrella as I load groceries in the rain!. I will switch back to an suv with a third row eventually (my baby is now 3). To make a minivan worth it I needed lots of options (heated seats, sunroof, nav, etc.). I have a VW Routan and absolutely love it.
