Man, is it Friday already?! This time last week, I was heading to Dallas to spend the day with my friends and was worrying if it was too soon to leave Jordan. She'll be two months old already on Monday! It goes so fast, yet she's still such a little baby. It might sound bad, but honestly, I felt comfortable heading out for the day, knowing that she was in good hands with my mom while my husband worked and then Grandma planned to stay until I got home. Maybe because she's my second or maybe because I was really craving some girl time, I'm not sure, but it was okay. I know with James, the first time I left him to go out of town (and he was 10 months old), I cried for the first hour of the trip. This time, no tears.
And even though I was only gone a day, it's still hectic getting everything planned, packed and ready to go. This time I had to bring my pump so I could keep up with breastfeeding, so I had to pack that and all the accessories. I can now cross, "pump in public airport bathroom" off my bucket list. It was a good time and I'm glad I went, but I was pooped when I got home! The night before I left I was up until 12:45 a.m. finishing my blog post for the next day, woke up around 2:30 a.m. to feed Jordan, then woke up at 4:45 a.m. to get ready to go. I headed out the door at 6ish to drive to the airport to catch my 8am flight.
At least my travel outfit was comfy and cute! I'd like to wear wedges or heels to dress my outfit up, but for walking through the airport with my suitcase, no thanks! Leopard flats for sure! And they slip off easily for security. Random fact: I get all creeped out putting my bare feet on the airport floor. #gross! #germs! #nasty!
You know what? It was actually so nice just to sit, quietly enjoying my Starbucks (iced tall 2-pump mocha, no whip please!) before boarding my plane. What's your SB drink?
Then, so fun to get all gussied up for a change. I'm glad to be trying some brighter colors and think both this electric blue jumper and the kelly green dress I recently got both are great colors to try. Now I want the dress in blue too! I'm a recovering "neutrals-only" girl, but I think I'm on my way to being fully cured. Look at me pairing blue AND coral!!! The jumper is super cute in person too and the back has a triangle cut out.
So, why did I haul my new-mama, sleep-deprived @ss out of bed to fly to Dallas and back in one day?!? Well, this girl is one reason. Cassie was one of my very first "blog girlfriends" I met about six years ago and our friendship has grown from commenting on each other's blogs into nearly daily phone chats and loads of laughs along the way. She's as fun as they come and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see her. She's a good roommate too, if you don't mind the sound machine. :/
The blog conference was hosted at the Joule hotel and I was so, so bummed I forgot to grab my very favorite jean jacket! I was freezing inside, but thankfully Cassie had an extra jacket I could wear. #friendsdontletfriendsfreeze
I'm indulging myself in sharing this picture below for no other reason except that it happens to make my legs look very long. These short legs NEVER look long! Thank you @Splendid woman who took this photo. I don't know what kind of camera trickery you used, but I want it! And how cool is their booth?!
lace-up heels (on sale)
How awkward to try to get a 'natural' photo. Feels so very unnatural!
After the events of the day, it was time for an outfit change to head to the prettiest garden party ever. I wore a fit and flare black and white dress that I know I'll wear again and again. The material is thick and stretchy, very flattering. I'm wearing size XS, but I realized when I looked online that it also comes in petite.

Garden party, here we come!
And I told you it was pretty! Look how they decorated those swings with huge white flowers and butterflies!

I didn't get near enough time with everyone, but made the most of the time I did have. My girl Courtney is another reason I couldn't stay away. She lives in California and I would be so sad to know she was only a 45 minute flight away and I wasn't getting to see her. She's another one I could talk her ear off on the phone, but real face-to-face connections are so much better. And Natalie and Casey too. These ladies are the best! I always enjoy talking to Marnie, and this time was no exception. I also got to meet Erin too, and I felt like we had a lot in common. I'm looking forward to keeping in touch.
Top Left to Right
Then, right after we snapped these pics, I had to run to go pump and catch my plane. Of course, I get to the airport and my flight was delayed! We ended up telling Grandma it was okay to head home and hubby got lucky because Jordan slept until I got home.
You can tell I was kinda running on empty when I got back home. It's hard to get away, even if only for the day! Hair up, no makeup. Oh well, some days are just like that. I feel like I'm still trying to catch up on my sleep, but that's just life with a newborn baby.
shorts (size 25) | top (XS) | bag (50% off, but keeps going in/out of stock) or here full-price | flip flops | white watch | necklace
Still on second day hair here, but I managed to dress up my bootcut jeans and t-shirt with a statement necklace.
ring | nail polish - the earrings I'm wearing are called Moon & Lola Starlight Studs, but I can't find them online. They came in my Rocksbox set (1st month free with code HONEYWEREHOMEXOXO) The necklace came in my Rocksbox too, here's one similar.
I still like button-down shirts for easy nursing, and this look is classic with dark denim. These boyfriend jeans come in regular and petite and are a great value under $100, when you want a change from your skinnies. But, they aren't super baggy like some boyfriend jeans styles.

The Free People tank I wore the other day with shorts got paired with these same boyfriend jeans on a cooler day. I hadn't worn my military jacket in a while, but it's been perfect for the days when our weather was on the cooler side.

But Houston is crazy when it comes to weather, one day rainy, the next day hot and sunny. It's starting to already feel like summer! This burnout tank comes in other colors and is thin and lightweight.
shorts (size 25) | tank (other colors) XS | bag (50% off, but keeps going in/out of stock) or here full-price | wedge sandals | nameplate necklace
You can't go wrong with a simple white tank and jeans, especially this white tank! It's racerback style, so you'll need to wear that style bra if you want to hide your bra straps.
u-neck tank ($18), also in black or grey | bootcut jeans | ring | lilac nail polish | renegade bracelet | Rocksbox necklace (similar)
I really wanted to wear this outfit, but this top is better suited for those of you without giant chests. It's certainly not flattering on moms whose boobs are milk machines. It's got quite a bit of stretch and is very fitted, so I looked ridiculous in it.
Also, I mentioned in this 'Day in the Life' post that I don't usually wear foundation, but instead wear pressed powder. Many of you asked which kind, so wanted to share here. This is the brand I've been using for ages!
Below are some sales worth checking out this weekend!
