Would you believe that baby Jordan is ONE month old today?! I really need to do a birth story post soon before I forget how she seemed like a tiny, little wet kitten when I first held her. So itty bitty and perfect and how I fell instantly in love and wept like a baby myself when they placed her on my chest. And, I want to share how it all happened, just like in the movies with my water breaking in the middle of the night and waking me up from sleep! But more on that soon! She is truly darling and I'm almost afraid to say it out loud, but she's been an angel baby just like her brother, eating and sleeping so well. She sleeps often in my arms, which leaves little time for much else, but these new baby times don't last long!
The barrette! #icanteven!!
I'm still getting into my own groove. It's hard to go from one 6-year old child and so much freedom in my days to being home all day long and tied to the round-the-clock feedings. I miss how I could devote so much time to just my son, but I'm also learning where we can connect and make those moments count. He has been so super helpful and we are so proud of him.
weekend steals & deals
Now on to the weekend steals & deals! If you liked my Free People tunic, an alternative that's on super sale right now is the Bobeau cowl neck tunic, 65% off. It comes in three colors, but looks like sizes are limited. Caslon also makes a similar cowl neck tunic, also 65% off and in more sizes. I guess they're marked down so much to make way for the summer items, but this tunic is something I didn't pack away because it's so lightweight and I love wearing it even inside the house on cozy, rainy days.
Speaking of the change of seasons, I have a "transitioning to Spring" post coming soon. We are seeing lots more warmer days, but mornings and evenings are still chilly, and I know some of you welcome suggestions on getting your wardrobe ready for the new season.
For now, we can probably still wear lighter weight sweaters & cardigans:
3/4 sleeve cardigan (7 colors/patterns, regular & petite)
and those darling shoulder baring tops:
Looking forward to summer, I saw my very favorite pair of shorts that I wore so often last year back in stock, but updated. Back then, they were military style with two front zippers, and this new pair has pockets instead.
BP also has a cute cargo short out this year for $38 that I want to try. Have you?? Man, this model has legs for days! #notfair #gimmesome!
in my closet
I was on a spending freeze for about two months or so and let's just say I ended it with a big 'ole online shopping bang last weekend! #offthewagon With so much time on the couch to browse the sales and new Spring fashion, I think it got the best of me. Especially since I went all Spring fever with this post on Spring florals.
I've been admiring this hi/low tank dress online for far too long and finally bought it. It's definitely a favorite purchase that I can see getting so much wear out of this Spring and Summer. I can't believe how soft it is and why I waited so long. Oh yeah, I was pregnant! ;) And the tank-style top is great because you can wear a regular bra with it and still hide your bra straps.
Verdict: Keeper for sure and I may need to get this in another color (it comes in six and I bet the coral and cobalt are pretty in person). I'm 5'1 and wearing size XS and it fit right to the floor in the back with a short heel, before washing it.
Next up is this feisty fitted coral number. I actually love it, even though I may be a few pounds away from really feeling confident in it. I'm sucking in for all I'm worth here in size XS, but the material is soft and stretchy, so you don't feel trapped inside. It actually has a good bit of give to it, which makes it easy to walk in.
This top is fitted to the dress, so it's one piece. I could probably go up a size to get a fit closer to the looser blouse effect, but then it would be way too long on me. #shortgirlproblems
Verdict: A keeper for sure, although I may not actually wear it out for another month or so.
The third piece is a casual and cute romper. Purposefully trying to add more color to my typical-neutral wardrobe, I opted for the "pink plumier", but I was so tempted by the other options (black, grey, or navy/white stripe). This XS is short, short, but the high neckline balances it out. It's still a little too tight on me in the waist (which is elastic), and I'm concerned about it shrinking (95% rayon, 5% spandex), so:
Verdict: I'll be returning, but may revisit and try on the size Small in a couple months. It would be great for running around in on a hot Spring or Summer day.
Finally, I was really surprised at how much I loved this black sleeveless romper with slight ruffle hem. It's so cute!! I like it with heels and a blingy necklace for a date night, or with flat sandals for the weekend. I'm wearing size Small.
Verdict: Somebody take me on a date because I'm keeping this one!! #hearmehubby?!
How adorable is this nameplate necklace?! I had personalized to our daughter's name and chose hot pink. You can customize it with special characters, like a # or & and up to 12 letters, and it comes in 14 colors for under $50!
Finally, I'm crazy over the bright, bold print 'flag stripes' by Kate Spade. All these are on sale now!
