Style Guide | Adding Florals to Your Spring Wardrobe

I love this time of year when Spring is in the air and we can shed our heavier fall and winter layers for all the fun and colorful Spring pieces! Isn’t it funny how every Fall we look so forward to boots and booties, but now, we’re all dying to bust out the sandals and wedges?!  #byebyeboots!! And the bright Spring colors. Nothing says Spring like florals and today, I’m showing you 3 ways to incorporate floral patterns into your outfits.  We’ll start with just a touch of floral and transition to a bold, all-over floral pattern.  Let’s go!

1 ::  Add a Touch of Floral
Florals pack a big punch, even if in small doses.  You can tip-toe into florals by adding a small bit of the pattern in your shoes with a strappy sandal.  This pair is colorful and easy to wear because they’re not too tall.  I really love how they look from the back because you see even more of the fun print from behind. The ankle strap is also thin enough that the shoe won’t make your ankles look big.  ðŸ˜‰
First up, this simple racerback style dress (a definite must-have for Spring and Summer), it’s under $50 and comes in so many colors- even black if you want a simple, flattering LBD.  In the past, I’ve worn it with a nude wedge sandal, and a solid colorful heel would be perfect for Spring, but the floral print shoe is more fun and you could pick up the other colors in the shoes by adding orange or yellow accessories.

Don’t be shy about adding a bright lip color like MAC ‘Candy Yum Yum’ when you’re dressing for Spring. It will accentuate your outfit, especially if you keep the rest of your makeup on the neutral side.  As a former wearer of only pale pink lipstick shades, I know it feels like your lips are screaming, “look at me” when you wear a bright shade, but trust me, you’ll get used to it and even come to feel naked without it!

2 :: Pairing Stripes & Florals

If you’re feeling more adventurous, you definitely can mix stripes and florals! It’s a chic pattern combination that’s easy to pull off, especially black and white stripes, which go with practically anything.  Check out this striped dress and floral heel combo below.  I’m crazy for the cut and style of this floral heel and all its pretty color.  I’m fond of high-heels and this pair fits my feet well and they are really well-made.  They run true to size.

This stripe and floral combo is so cool, even when combined into a single dress or shoe.  I wouldn’t wear them together though!  With the dress, a strappy black heel or bright pink or pretty blue heel would look awesome.
You can easily incorporate color into your Spring wardrobe with the NYDJ skinny ankle jeans and a top that goes with the color.  But see how the floral heels add more interest to the outfit?  A note about the NYDJ jeans- size down since they run big, but are super comfortable and won’t show your panties since they are higher waisted!  I’m wearing 0P here, but I pre-pregnancy I wore 00P. (And since I’m still postpartum, these pants aren’t buttoned in the below pics! Shhh!!!

3 ::  Floral Dresses
When you’re ready to take your florals to the next level, a flirty floral print dress fits the bill.  I love wearing dresses because it’s an instant outfit!  You only need shoes and accessories and you’re ready to go!  Here, I accentuated the pink in the dress with a super high energy pink heel.  So fun and unexpected!

  1. You look fabulous in all of them, but the striped dress with those floral pumps is my absolute favorite! Erin Busbee (Do you watch her? If not, go!) always recommends those 'Hermosah' pumps for anyone with a bit of a bunion, etc, because they fit a bit wider in that area. They are beautiful pumps!

  2. Love, love, love the floral dress with the coral colored shoes! Random question…what's the name of the cursive font you used in your graphics?? I love that!

  3. Ohmygosh, you look amazing!! I'm obsessed with the stripe and floral pump combo…looks so good on you!
