Happy weekend-before-Thanksgiving! I hope you get some time off to rest and recoup and enjoy the little things next week. I’m thrilled to have James home and we have a couple fun things lined up (TopGolf, anyone?!), but I’ll also have to take him with me to my next doctor’s appointment (will be 25 weeks!). He’s never gotten to hear the baby’s heartbeat, and I think that will be exciting for him.
We’ve moved from Batgirl as a name to Darth Baby, so . . . . 😉 I have to say, I am so enjoying this pregnancy! Poor James, I did NOT enjoy that one- but I’ve more than made up for it since he’s been born. I enjoy HIM so much everyday! Isn’t 5 such a fun age?!
Are you ready for holiday gift guides and Christmas shopping? I’ll have some of those starting next week for you pre-Thanksgiving shoppers who like to get a head start. One of my friends (hi Kim!) told me she actually finished her shopping in October! I never have it together enough to do that, and I like to check out the holiday sales, so I’ll be shopping with those of you still shopping in the next few weeks. I have started hitting up Amazon for the toys though (and found a few at Nordstrom too)!
So many stores are already offering great deals – Amazon announced their Black Friday deals begin today! And Ann Taylor, Banana, GAP (scored a jean jacket for my son for $20, including my $5 reward!), and Old Navyall have 40% off deals going on now. Forever 21 has 50% off everyting (but fine print says ‘select styles’).
weekend steals & deals
I’d been eyeing this Sun & Shadow pattern sleeveless cardigan ($34.80, XS) for several weeks and finally brought it home. I like that it’s sleeveless (perfect for our crazy weather, warm one day, cold the next). I’ve already worn it a couple times (the first time on one of the warmer days with a white tank and ankle booties) and here with a Caslon long sleeve tee ($25 and comes in so many colors- I had to buy Medium to accommodate my belly- things need to be longer on me these days.)
I’ve been happy with my two inexpensive crossbody bags from Forever 21. This one is the Dual Strap Mini Satchel and is under $25.
I’m typically an online clothes shopper, but lately, with this ever-growing body (up about 19 pounds now), I find I need to sometimes try things on to make sure they fit over this belly. I’m trying to buy things I can wear post-pregnancy as much as possible so I don’t waste money.
I’ve gotten a lot of wear out of this Caslon high/low v-neck sweater – I love a stripe and my other striped tops aren’t fitting anymore. This one is awesome, very lightweight sweater material with a v-neck and longer in the back.
I’m most excited this week to finally find a perfect weight military jacket! You might remember me discussing them awhile back, and this one said it was backordered, but I ordered it anyway and it arrived way earlier than originally listed. I’ve already gotten to wear it several times and it’s super comfy! I like that it has pockets too. This color is a nice olive- not too green, but also comes in black and navy. It runs big, I’m wearing XXS.
My old faux fur vest was starting to look like it belonged on a child (it was short and fitted), so I went in search of a longer faux fur vest and tried on several styles and narrowed it down to three – the winner being the ‘Leah’ from Topshop. It was the softest and most luxurious and slimming (in size 2) to keep me from looking like a snowman. It comes in black and cream, and I figured the cream would be more versatile, so that’s the one I bought. Keep in mind I’m only 5’0, so it may be a little longer on you.
I tried on this Caslon Pattern Crewneck sweater also and really liked it, but can’t buy everything. 🙁 It was a little scratchy, but I had a tank on underneath and that helped. It’s super cute on!
This one also didn’t make the cut, although it was also super cute. I’ve been seeing this style of sweater with the lace hem detail built in, but the seam around the middle of the sleeve was weird to me. You might have to try it on to see if you feel the same – might just be me because my arms are kinda big. It comes in 5 colors, I’m wearing size Small here.
I loved this “free people” style long sleeve top here, perfect for casual weekends or lounging at home. I left it at the store though and can’t remember if this was XS or Small, I think XS.
If you’re in the market for a beautiful, not too heavy cardigan, definitely get this one! It’s on major sale at Macy’s and get an extra 20% off with code SUPER. It looks heavy, but it was surprisingly light on. I’m wearing size XS (and giving you a good shot of that growing baby bump!) People say, “I can barely tell you’re pregnant”, until they see that belly! I can surely tell. And I’m bumping into everything – including the kitchen sink constantly when I’m doing dishes!
