Thankful

We have so, so much to be thankful for.  First and foremost, I’m thankful that I can even feel thankful right now after such a hard loss this year.  It was only 8 months ago that we lost our Dad and not a day goes by that we don’t think about him and miss him.  He added so much to our family and his absence this Thanksgiving will surely be felt.  I have sweet, sweet pictures of him and my Mom cuddled up on the couch from last year’s Thanksgiving and even though he was frail and missing hair, their love was strong as ever.
I know many of you have suffered loss and hardships in your lives too and I appreciate your outpouring of kindness and genuine words of comfort when I shared our heartache with you.  Thank you so very much.  I may not know exactly who you are, but I know you are out there and I often think about our common bonds as women, wives, mothers, daughters, friends.
And as life goes on, it is literally going on inside me with a beautiful baby girl being formed.  I didn’t even know if I could get pregnant at my age (40), so imagine how doubly happy we are that I am now!  It’s bittersweet that she will never know her Grandpa, but she is sure to bring so much joy into our lives that we cannot even imagine right now.  We can’t wait to bring her home to her newly decorated nursery!
Life is good.  We are healthy.  We have a roof over our heads, comfy beds to sleep in, plentiful food, and a tight family bond.  Wonderful friends and a God that exchanges beauty for ashes, joy for pain.

I’m so very thankful! How can I not have a smile on my face when I look at this sweet boy?!  Oh, how fun an age 5 has been!

I hope your heart and bellies are full today!  Sending you so much love!
Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm so happy that you are happy and feeling blessed. There truly is so much to be thankful for…even during the times that it takes a little bit more effort to look around for those things.
