One Room Challenge :: Week 4 – Nursery Furniture

Welcome back to the One Room Challenge! If you’ve been following along, you know we’re creating a nursery and the big news we learned last week is that we’re having a baby GIRL!  We are super thrilled with the news and I have to admit, I already started looking at the adorable baby girl clothes online.  It’s been fun buying for my cutie pie nieces over the years, but now it’s our turn!  So fun!

But, this baby needs a place to sleep more than cute clothes right now, and we’ve fixed that right up this week! Although the chandelier we ordered was too big and we had to reorder a smaller one that should be here soon, the nursery furniture, on the other hand, is just right!  Because the headboard on our walls is not a bright white, but more of a creamy white (Sherwin-Williams Divine White), we knew a white crib would make the walls looks muddy.  We started searching for a grey crib and totally lucked out when Delta Children reached out and offered to provide the furniture for the nursery! #thankyouDelta #luckybaby!

My talented interior designer Sita Montgomery actually found these pieces (crib, dresser, and glider) and I immediately liked the modern shape.  Another bonus is that the crib converts into a toddler bed daybed, and then a full-size bed.  Even better is that these items won’t break the bank!  Don’t be afraid to shop everywhere – you never know what you’ll find!

My two “design assistants” got to work on Saturday morning building the furniture.  Here’s the crib in progress, which wasn’t difficult to assemble (or so they tell me).

Such determination and focus on this little face.

Once the crib was totally assembled, someone had to check out his handiwork.

I bet you can tell what’s coming next!  He for sure had to climb inside and test it out!
We’re using his old crib mattress after all.

He is so excited to have a little sister, although he’s still getting used to the idea that “she” is not a “he”.

Building the glider was just a matter of putting the top and bottom pieces together and then snapping them together.  The glider swivels and rocks.  Then, it was onto the dresser

I’d like to use hardware similar to what we’re doing for the bookshelf drawers and doors (still to be determined), so the dresser is still lacking knobs.  And the little lamb is still the only “accessory” in the room.  It’s cute, but needs some friends!
TO DO LIST
So, still left to do is:

*Order rug, mirror, art, lamp, and pouf

  1. i love the relaxing grey color scheme! And wow! Walmart? They are really showing up at the party a lot lately, huh? P.S. Don't let the little man jump in the crib if you can catch him first lol The metal part of our crib bent from such happening. Easy replacement part at least.

  2. Just love that gray! You know I am a neutral nursery girl. So so beautiful. And how sweet is James helping. Can't wait to see baby girl with that little lamb. Grady used to sleep in his swing with a little turtle clutch in his hands Sweet babies. xo

  4. WOW!!! Everything looks amazing and it's coming along perfectly! I recognize that little lamb…is it from pottery barn? When we were surprised by having our 4th baby, my daughter wanted to buy her something and it was probably right around 20 weeks into my pregnancy. We were at Pottery Barn and she insisted that I get the lamb for the baby. That was the first thing we had in the room for her!! So sweet! I remember sitting in that nursery just being excited & overwhelmed with joy that a little girl would be in that room in no time! So very exciting…so happy for you:))))

  5. I love the grey. I am actually due in March, as well, so it is fun to see what you are doing with your nursery! How do you like the glider so far? Is it comfy?

  8. Love the grey furniture! Almost makes me want a baby, just kidding! You are correct you have to be open minded because many stores now carry a huge variety of brands and quality through their websites, I am amazed at what I find sometimes.
