DIY Faux Peony Wreath & Mother's Day Ideas

When I was in World Market the other day getting supplies for our Spring dining table, I noticed their new selection of faux flowers are really good.  Y'all know I'm not scared to incorporate faux flowers into our home decor, even though I do buy fresh almost weekly too.  I like to keep at least one small real bunch at our breakfast table and in the kitchen, but these mixed mini faux flower bouquets are adorable (3 for $14.97) and they even come in ranunculus.

I picked up the lavender and purple bunches of peonies (peonies- my real ones never last long!) (2 for $15.98), but the bright pink ones almost came home with me too.  And since Mother's Day is fast approaching, I made my mom a wreath out of the flowers I bought.  She always keeps a wreath on her front door, but she's still got the Fall wreath up and I think she'd welcome this one that's more Springy.

Aren't they pretty?!

You can use any wreath form to make a wreath; I happened to have a straw form on hand, so I used that.  Since each bunch of flowers came with 10 stems, I used 2 bunches to create this wreath.  Simply cut the stems with scissors so you have individual peonies.  The short stems are perfect for inserting into the wreath form.  If you need more hold, you can use your glue gun to secure each stem in place.

Of course you can arrange them however you like best; I alternated purple and lavender until all the spaces were filled up.

Then, to add a little more dimension and color, I hot glued a few faux leaves behind the flowers.

This DIY wreath project takes no time.  I completed it within about 15 minutes! To hang the wreath, I'll just add a decorative lavender ribbon and tie it at the top.  This wreath will be a pretty addition to my mom's door and I hope it gives her a smile when she comes home.

And I couldn't resist this little gold bird jewelry holder for her too.  My son was with me when we found it in the store and he agreed, she'll love it!

I added a few things for Mother's Day in the "shop the post" below that also caught my eye while I was at the store if you need some ideas for the holiday (May 10th!). It's a good time to shop online since World Market has 10% off everything online + free shipping on orders over $100 until tomorrow.  Use code: EARTHDAY
