Wardrobe Wednesday – Seeing Red

I’m kinda red obsessed lately.  Ever since my girlfriend Audrey encouraged me to wear red lipstick when we were on a girls trip celebrating her birthday, I’ve been hooked on the color.  I was wearing a grey and white dress and she was sure my pale lips weren’t doing it justice, so with my other friends’ chiming in in agreement, I wiped off the pink and put on the red.  After the initial uneasiness about fearing your lips are screaming, “look at me!”, I started to really dig it.  This just goes to show that it’s good to get out of our comfort zones and try something new once in a while.  Even if it’s just our own comfy ‘fashion’ zone.

I probably never would have chosen a bright red camisole top to wear even a couple years ago  either (especially with this bright white skin- but I think warmer, sunny days are on the horizon!).  I might have gotten it in black (which it does come in), but the red is so much brighter and more fun!  This is the same top I showed you in my Valentine’s Day Outfits Day & Night, but I didn’t wear it for V-day, I wore it to celebrate my birthday.

Browsing the red aisles online, these gorgeous things jumped out at me.
And of course my favorite tee comes in red too! I wore my green one yesterday!
If you do want to try a red lipstick, below are three of my favorites.
Retro Matte Ruby Woo – This lipstick is very matte, as the name states.  Think 50’s pin-up girl, but with a little gloss, you’re back in this decade.
Lady Bug – This one has a little pink in it if you don’t want to go too red.
Brave Red – This is a true red, closest to my old Mac Red, a red I bought many, many years ago to go with a Halloween costume, but the color is a perfect go-to red. I’m pretty sure Mac Red has been discontinued.
I’m wearing “Brave Red” (with a tad bit of clear gloss) in the camisole and the old Mac Red in the pictures below.

See, red isn’t so scary after all! 😉

You're right! You wear every color in the rainbow, but I don't see you too often in red. It would look awesome on you!

Nice! I really like your style posts. I've been looking for a good white blazer for a while now. I'll have to check this one out.

Red looks really beautiful on you Megan 🙂 It's such a vibrant and great color that I love wearing. I can't do the red lips, unless it's professionally done (ha!) but I'm totally game for anything else.

Megan you look stunning in red! I should say ravishing in red! I love the pretty tank top on you. I have a red lipstick and have only worn it twice. I think you've encouraged me to bust it out and wear it more often.

You're so sweet Allison! Seeing your picture with that red background makes me think you'd be beautiful in red.

For a long time I only wore lipsticks to events-and it was red! And then I got a bright floral dress and I knew red wouldn't work, so that's how I got into hot pink! From there, my love of lipstick has flourished and I even wear it to work now! BUT, one of my high schoolers told me I looked like a clown b/c of my red lipstick :/
    oh well!
