Organized Magazine Files

My magazine tear sheets were getting out of control.  I’m an active magazine/catalog reader, meaning I’m not afraid to circle things, make notes, and tear out pages for inspiration for everything from home decor to health and fashion.  These images and articles can be a jumping point for future blog posts and now I’m also starting to get gift ideas for Christmas, so I wanted to get them organized.  I found a perfect file solution at Target with a wooden file box and bright geometric green and white file folders.
I sorted my magazine pages into categories with post-it note labels.
Then, created labels with my label maker and green dot washi tape.
I affixed a gold bookplate label to the front  to personalize the box.
I don’t know why I get so excited over organizing things, but these files make me much happier than having all my magazine pages in a big heap.  It’s a good start to a Monday.

  1. Love this solution! This comes at such a good time for me because I was just fretting over the messy state of all my own torn magazine/catalog pages. With so many new ones coming in during this time of year, they're really getting out of control. I may have to tackle this project before the week is over.

  2. I used to keep so many magazines/catalogs and tear outs, but realized the majority I can find online now. Love the way you organized them however…very cheerful.

  3. I've given up on tearing out pages from magazines. I had tooooo many over the last ten+ years. It was so freeing the advent of Pinterest to just chuck them all in recycling when I moved last year. Now when i see something in a magazine I want to remember, I take a picture of it and upload it to Pinterest. So much better! :o)

  4. I have so many teared out pages as well and I know what you mean when you say you get excited about organizing them. I too have felt that since Pinterest and with all available online, I could always find something online now. But I like the idea of drawing inspiration from things that obviously touched me enough to tear out the page. I like Erin's idea of taking a picture of it ad uploading.
