Cork + Washi Bookshelf
To protect the shelves from getting scratched and dirty, I lined them with cork contact paper. Then I added red and blue decorative trim in the form of washi tape.

Hi! I’m Megan, mom to a thoughtful teenager and spunky young girl. We call Houston home and recently moved into our dream home. I traded my lawyer hat to become a full-time blogger in 2010. I love sharing my passion for affordable fashion, home decor, organization, & fitness to help inspire you to take care of you!
Holy washi tape! I'm jealous. Such a great idea Megan.. I may use this in my classroom!
Super cute idea!
Totally loving his room! The colors, the cabinet, the idea with the cork and washi tape… And oh my, are you organized! I just jammed all of my washi tape into glass jars. But your idea looks so much more cleaner. 🙂 Great to discover your lovely blog thanks to the BYW e-course!! 🙂

Love washi tape! Slowly building up my own collection of them. Great idea and I love your use of the corkboard to help protect that beautiful bookcase!

I love washi tape! They have just started selling it at Target and a few other stores where I live. I used it in my "Our Home Design Book" and can't wait to start decorating with it. I love your idea of dressing up the furniture with it.
Love it! Such a cute and easy way to spruce up a bookshelf
Where do you buy all of your washi tape? You have such a great collection. I have bought a few rolls here and there, and I see it more places lately (including a big set at Costco, which I bought), but I love the variety you have!
Oh what a great idea. I have never thought of cork before to protect the shelves. So darling.
That looks so nice! I never would have thought about using Washi tape that way….
Super jealous of your washi tape collection! Great ideas!
Cork contact paper!?! How did I not know of this? I love to use cork in my house, and I can see it working great on my shelves as well. I love how it looks with the white. Does it help to keep the books from sliding too?
Where did you get the washi tape. I've not seen this anywhere in the UK. I have to have some !
Love the cork board contact paper idea to absorb all of the bumps and bruises little boys like to put on furniture! : ) So smart. And holy washi tape drawer… I need to up my collection, I only have a few rolls! Where do you buy most of your washi tape?
I had no idea cork contact paper existed. That's genius!
Love it! You have quite the collection! I tend to gravitate towards the same pattern every time I buy-lots of florals!
Looks so great!! Love the washi…and jealous of your collection! J had to finish his science fair project last night and needed tape to put the pages on his display board…I was like WASHI!!! He looked at me all weird, but ended up loving it!!
I will 100% be copying this sometimes soon…I love it! i had no idea you could buy cork board liners!
Ah, your washi tape collection is fabulous! Love all the patterns and colours! The idea to protect the shelves by using cork contact paper and washi tape is adorable.
