Office Updates // Inspiration Board and Rattan Chair

Ever since switching up the paint in my home office from light yellow to white (Divine White by Sherwin Williams), I’ve been making changes to the room and it’s finally coming together.  I decided on a color palette of black, gold, pink, blush, and white — which I am also considering for a blog redesign.

I put together an inspiration board filled with these colors and added it to a nook in my office, just to the right of my desk. You can see how I made the inspiration board HERE with the black and white polka dot fabric.

The inspiration board if full of colors, quotes, photos, and illustrations that are meaningful to me.
Some of the prints are pins I pinned on Pinterest and printed at Walgreens.
I like the white font on black background and can always be reminded to “be still.”  I’m still looking for “Thy will be done.”
The chair was a random find at Ikea.  I’d been looking online for something similar forever, but finally found this one day while browsing the store with my son.  When we took it to the car, he noticed me struggling and kept saying, “The chair won’t fit in the car Mama.”  Yes, I know.  We had to be rescued from the store:) Oops.  Has that happened to you?
The chair is called the Storsele and is made of rattan, but they aren’t selling it online.  The shape and height is just right for this corner of the room.  It would also be nice to layer a throw blanket in the seat- need to see what I have around the house.
I’m using my silver HomeGoods table here too with some books and gold urchin.
You can see how I covered that second book with fabric HERE.

I hope y’all have a great weekend!  I’ll be announcing the winner of the $100 gift certificate to Festive Home Decor on Monday.  Go HERE to enter. 🙂

UPDATE: I just made these images with Recite website.  It’s so easy (and free!), you just type in your quote and scroll through a list of backgrounds to choose the one you want.
Cool, huh?!

  1. I love the inspiration board. I am planning on an office redesign and have already pinned a couple of your ideas.

Do you have any tips for organizing and decorating in rented houses. We are currently living in a rented townhouse and there is only so much we can do without upsetting the landlords. However sprucing it up and making it look like ours is vital, so I was hoping if you had any tips or ideas that you can share or may have shared in the past that could be helpful. Thanks!!!

  2. I love the color scheme, too, Megan. Pretty combination! Love your inspiration board and the polka dot background. Adorable photo of James!

  3. I love, love, love the colour palette, Megan! And how awesome is it when Ikea comes out with gems like that chair!

  4. Love that board! Inspirational but sooo chic! I'm moving my office into our sun room today and haven't figured out what to do with it. You just gave me some good ideas! Have a great weekend! 🙂

  5. I have been planning the remodel of my home office. Last weekend I made hubby go to ikea with me and my son. It was his first time, he won't admit he liked ikea. Anyway we looked at this same chair. I have been wanting a bamboo, rattan, or fretwork chair in my office but am not willing to spend $500-600 on it. I think your picture is beautiful of this chair, ikea didn't have it styled, at least my ikea didn't. In ikea I put this on my standby list in case I cannot find a chippendale/hollywood regency type chair for my office at a reasonable price. I am happy you mentioned a seat cushion for this chair I was wondering how it would be to sit in for a long time.

  6. Oh, I just love your inspiration board, Megan. This room has undergone such a transformation. Always beautiful. . but just loving these new colors. Great chair and I like the new layered rugs. Well done with all of the styling, too!

  7. Love the color palette! and really love the don't f with me print 😉
I'm crazy for that chair…can't believe it's ikea!!!

  8. Hey Megan! Is the Ikea Storsele comfortable to sit on? I am thinking about buying a pair for my living room. The closest Ikea store is in Atlanta, so I cant just run their to test it out 🙂

    Thank you!
