baby james {22 & 23 months}

These last two months have heard James talking and talking and talking. His sweet little baby voice is my favorite.  We have actual conversations and he absolutely delights me.   I accidentally bumped him the other day and he said, “Careful mama.”  Then I was trying to put nose drops in his nose while he squirmed away and said sternly, “Don’t like it!”
He’s like a parrot repeating everything you say.  Now I know when I hang up the phone I usually say, “okay, bye” because James has been mimicking me saying the same thing.  And he carries around my old Blackberry talking on the phone all the time.  He even holds it between his ear and shoulder.

He loves to go to “Starbuck’s” and drink his “chocolate milk.”  He gets in “mama’s car” and always wants to “drive.”  Last night, he wanted to do “laundry” and pulled his laundry basket into the laundry room and opened the washing machine.

I’m always getting down to eye level because I just love looking at him and I love to look him in the eye.  He’s still so little but such an individual and turning into such a little boy.

He’s really friendly to everyone and will engage anyone who pays him attention.  So funny when he spotted this little boy down below.

He gets so excited when he hits the ball.  And he loves his “Muno” shoes.  He’s trying to help me get him undressed and dressed but can’t quite do it yet- he wants to though.

When he reads, before he identifies something he says, “whatsat?”  I guess I’ve asked him a million times, “What’s that?”
He has such a sweet, fun-loving spirit.  He loves to go to “church” and “praise Jesus.”  He sings the alphabet, lots of nursery rhymes (This Old Man and Old McDonald are current favorites).  He’s figured out how to operate his CD player and will play his “Snuggle Puppy” song over and over.

Love this little guy.  We say, “I love you SOOOO MUCH!!”  He melts my heart.  Hearing, “Love you Mana” is the best thing ever.  Or when he wants a “hug” and puts his little arms around my neck and lays his head on my shoulder.  He knows we “hold hands” in the parking lot and now automatically reaches for my hand.
He will be 2 years old next month!
Time to P * A * R * T * Y ! ! !

  1. Ooh, where the heck is that bouncy place (last picture) called? I have a 2 yr old myself and always looking for new places to go to! (I'm also from Houston.)

  2. Sally- That last picture is from a gymnasium in Katy where we attended a birthday party. I can't remember the name but it was so fun to jump around and James loved it.

  3. Aw he is so darn cute! Matthew is just a month younger and I enjoy these posts so much!
My heart melts so badly when he grabs my hand to go and play with him! He loves engaging with other kids too, he follows them everywhere 😉

  4. Two years old? Where does the time go! These photos are precious. Its so much more fun when they begin to communicate and have conversations with you. "Love you mama" really are the sweetest words.

  5. OH. MY. GOODNESS.
    That is pure sugar!
It reminds me of when I just had one– my first born was a little boy, too. 🙁 Of course I am enamored with all four of my children, but I still really miss those days.
You gotta get him on video worshiping- I would just die with so much cuteness!!!
    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Your son is adorable! I have just one boy too…he's now almost 11… He's almost my height, and I can't believe he was once so small. The pics of James makes me long for those tiny little shoes (Limefreckle Jr. wears a man size 8.5!!) I know what you mean when you say you love him soooo much…of course we all love our children, but I myself wasn't prepared when I had him for that fierce feeling to take over…. and he's still telling me he loves me at 11….and it still makes me feel like you must when your 2 year old does it!! Boys are great!

  7. Enjoy every precious moment and record EVERYTHING. Their little voices and the way they mispronounce things sometimes is so cute. I even think it's adorable when my daughter smacks her food with her mouth open. I'm sure that will get old one day but right now I love it.

  8. Oh, Megan! Just so cute. Can't believe how big he is getting. Being a mama is the greatest blessing. I love hearing how much you savor it. Great photos.
