My Favorite (Fast & Fake) Tan

Now that it's August, I know many of us see fall just around the corner and are getting prepared for school to start for the kiddos- but I, for one, am not ready for summer to end!  We are renting a beach house with my husband's sister and her family soon and I'm so looking forward to it!

Being outdoors more and running around with James in the backyard has helped me get a little tan, but when I really want to get nice color fast, I turn to my favorite spray tan from Victoria's Secret-  Instant Bronze Body Spray.  I couldn't find it on Victoria's Secret website anymore (where it sold for about $10) but found a link to it on Ebay (2 for $44).  If you find it somewhere else cheaper let me know:)

It's not a traditional self tanner, it's more of a body spray that gives you instant color, looks great and smells nice!  It dries right away and you see the results immediately.  I use it mainly on my legs since they seem to be less tan than the rest of me.

And speaking of Victoria's Secret, I think they have the cutest, inexpensive bikinis!  I don't think anyone particularly relishes shopping for swimsuits, but I've ordered from them online and been happy with my selections.

I'd love to hear where you find your bikinis, what brands you like, etc.  Seems like now is a good time to buy them because they're all on SALE! :)

  2. I am SO glad to hear you say you're not ready for summer to end! Neither am I, and I'm worried that I'm about to see fall start popping up all over the blogosphere. :)

VS is definitely one of my fave sources for swimsuits. But I dig J Crew also.

Last summer I also grabbed 2 cheap suits at H&M, and it's the last time I'll do that - because they broke within several uses.

  5. Oh, I haven't used that one. I used the spray from L'Oreal and like it. However, it's not instant so you have me beat. I love bikinis from VS and Abercrombie. Good call on getting them on sale right now. Smart cookie.

  6. How can you not be ready for summer to end in this Houston heat! I at least get a little breeze since I live pretty close to the water. I can't wait for fall, I am one of those crazies :)

  7. Oh, I am loving summer! I can relate to not wanting it to end. I have had zero luck with sel-tanners in the past, perhaps I'll give this one a try.

  8. I need to try this! I am pale as a ghost. Lola can't handle the heat so we've spent most of our time outdoors when it is later in the evening. I hope you have a fabulous time on your trip.

  9. I love this stuff too! I use the Instant Bronze Lotion, and I LOVE IT!!!! I am so very pale myself and have tried nearly everything on the market. This is, by far, my favorite!

And I love VS for bikinis too!!!!

  10. Ooh! I've never tried their self tanner before! I use Jergen's revitalizing self tanner thing.

  11. I have so many suits that I don't even pay attention to them anymore. I think it's a product of owning a pool...they become less about fashion and more about being able to just jump in! I stock up at VS end of year, as well as target.

does your spray tan stay on in water?

  12. I just wrote about my favorite bikinis! I love the VitaminA line, I've found at 6pm.com and ideeli. For my everyday bikinis, I usually hit Boden or J Crew.

  13. This is hands down the BEST self tanner I have ever used. But I can't get it anymore in their store or online...very, very disappointed.

  14. I am such a fan of J. Crew bikinis and last year, I gave Athleta a try and LOVED the black string bikini I bought. Seriously, I never thought I could wear one and be comfortable, but boy, was I wrong! :-) Holding on tight to what is left of summer!

  16. Ugh, I need to find some bathing suits for Greece. I am not looking forward to it!

  17. Agreed! Victoria's Secret has great bathing suits! I bought one last summer & was surprised at how well it fit. Bonus that they are selling them in stores too...online bathing suit shopping makes me nervous!

  18. Know of any product that can make you look less tan? lol Living in San Diego I seem to be out in the sun a lot year round and with my Portuguese skin that tans super fast even with sunscreen, I look a little too dark most of the time. Hope all is well, you are looking awesome by the way!
