Running

Hi all!  I’ve missed you! I was out of town 3 days for work last week and it’s so good to be home.  We spent the weekend hanging with family and wrapped up Sunday evening with a BBQ at my sis-in-law’s house.

Also, I went running a bunch.  I’m thisclose to having my pre-pregnancy body back- just in time to start getting baby fever again!  Running, lifting weights, and eating clean is bringing sexy back baby! Ha!  I’ve been wearing the same old running shorts and sports bra forever, so I treated myself to two new pair of shorts from Lululemon and a couple of sports bras from Academy.  Nothing like looking cute to get you motivated to get into the gym:)

I love to run while jamming out to my ipod, and the perfect selection of booty shaking music is especially helpful to keep my feet hitting the track when I want to give up, am out of breath, and don’t think I can keep going.  And I love when the message in the song improves my mood or self esteem.  Or just makes me feel good and happy!  And I always start with this old song- do you know it? What are your favorite workout songs?  I need to download some new ones- I just downloaded this and this!

  2. That's the rub with getting your pre-baby body back isn't it? All of that hard work only to get pregnant again! But, you'll be happier for it, and you'll also know that you can get it back. AGAIN. Running is the way that's brought it back for me more than once! 🙂 Good for you!

  3. Good for you 🙂 I'm totally early 2000's when it comes to my running music. Jenny from the block, hello! Nina Sky is awesome. That's on my mix too!

Anything Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, David Guetta, keeps me going and I usually push at the end with Katy Perry Firework.

  4. Love this. I'm a runner too, and love love love lululemon. I'm going to start training for a half marathon as part of "Team GSF" running for my daughter's friend who has SMA, the #1 genetic killer of infants. She's 3 and cannot and will not ever walk let alone run. How can I NOT run????
I'm happy you're a fellow runner blogger! 🙂 Good work mama!

  5. Love the little running quote!

I too am a runner- well I was before I fell pregnant anyway…just over 4 weeks until my 6 week check and then I can run again!

  6. Good for you! So proud of you. Sounds like you feel really healthy. I am more of a kick boxer than runner, but love OMG every time I work out!!

  7. Good for you, Megan! For music that gets me moving, I love Rihanna, Katy Perry, and one of my all time faves is "Don't Feel Like Dancing" by the Scissor Sisters.

  8. That's great you are almost to your goal! I have been trying to lose my baby weight as well…5 years later. It is stubborn. I spin more than I run, but I know how music can help!

I am more of an alternative-ish music person, but for cardio, I like Mary J Blige, Rhianna, and "4 minutes" by JT and Madonna (I always have it as my final song to power me through!)

  9. This is good motivation! I now have a 3-year old and almost 4-month old and am so ready to get the body back. My son's daycare teacher made fun of me for still wearing maternity jeans last week, so I squeezed into some regular ones today and am contemplating undoing the button. Not fun!!!

  10. Your post is making me want to go out and run right now, in the rain! Running has always been the best way for me to get really fit also. It's addicting.

  11. Love this post. I'm going to download that Rihanna song. I'm liking most stuff by Katy Perry, just added 'Last Friday Night,' and "ET" by her. Also 'Like a G6' by Far East Movement. Ready to work out now!

  12. I was born into a running family so it was just natural for me to pick it up. I just made a cd for my Dad who ran his first Boston Marathon this year. It is all songs with the words run or running in it. I'll email you the list.

  13. Great post! I think my son is about a month or two older than yours, and you're so right – getting back in shape makes you forget all the pregnancy "junk" and brings on the baby fever! But it's comforting to know you can get back to your normal self, isn't it? There's just nothing better than that post-workout feeling. Great job on the running!

  14. Love this post and girl you looked great in those bikini pics you posted awhile back. I feel the same way though,I am just back to less than my prebaby weight and I am sure in the next 6 months to a year I will want to get preggers again so oh well to my hot bod! I love to workout to Kayne West the Workout song:)

  15. I enjoy running too!!! My husband is completing a year long tour in IRaq, and while he was gone I set a goal to run 3 days a week. Well…I am happy to report than in his year long tour, I ran 423 miles!!!! He's due back in 5 days and I need 2 more miles to hit my goal!!! yay for running moms!!!! Keep up the good work!

  16. Great job with the running Megan! Keep it up. It helps me to know other bloggers who are running and motivate me when I don't feel like getting out of bed. And there is nothing like running with an iPod when the perfect song comes on and helps get you out of whatever funky mood I am in. Plus having the cutest jack russell terrier who loves to run is an added bonus 🙂

  17. Good for you sweetie!! I am running these days, but wish I could say for exercise!! I am more busy now with a 17 and 21 year old than when I had two preschoolers!! But, I like it that way. Won't be long and I'll have plenty of time for me and running!! LOL

  18. I love to work out to Katy Perry, Kanye, and Rihanna!

E.T. and California Gurls by Katy Perry are good ones. I'm going to go get some cute workout clothes, I need some new motivation! It's just so hot here to work out outside!

  19. Just found your blog and am photo copying the adage on running! Wow! I needed that for this Monday!
Love your blog, look forward to more posts,
    Kind regards
    Jamie Herzlinger

  20. Good for you!! You have some great songs picked out. I know what you mean about having some cute workout clothes. I bought some new stuff awhile back too. We have a lululemon store opening in town. Are they worth the money?

  21. Love your blog! I recently started running and can use all the motivation I can get! Do you know where I can get a copy of that poster? Thanks for all of your wonderful posts and inspiration! Tracey

  22. I just recently started running again too after having twins – they are 9 months today! I signed up for our city's marathon training team even though I'm not sure I'll actually have time to run it. I need a team to hold me accountable. LOVE your blog by the way. Your closet (and home) is amazing!

  23. All of you have given me great motivation. I have lost 55lbs in the last 12mos. I started out walking, moved to the elliptical and after months of my doc pushing me I've started to jog. Once I get out of my head and just go for it…I love it! It's very freeing for me and no workout is complete without Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow". I. Also like some Kesha songs and Kanye's College Drop Out album.

  24. i run and i swear that it is the only way i really feel like i have "worked out" ! it kicks my ASS! my go to songs when i am dying to stop:

gwen stefani- what are you waiting for?

destiny's child- can you keep up

john legend-ready to go right now

    beyonce-upgrade u, crazy in love

i literally can not run with out music-it is so empowering!

  25. Can you please tell me where this picture is from?? Love love it! I’d love to find it without the words. They are great but would just like the photo
