Great News, Good News, Bad News

Are you the type of person that likes to hear your good or bad news first?  I’d always choose the good news, that way, the bad news might not sound so bad.  But today, we’re going Great, Bad, Good to finish on a high note:) Great News The winner of the La Posh giveaway is  Capture I was thinking that y’all are like me and would love to win one of those dresses- would sure put a spring in my step and get me looking forward to some warmer weather!  It’s also encouraging me to continue working out!  Thank you so much for entering and leaving your comments!  Elizabeth, please email me to hear how to claim your prize! Bad News We had an unfortunate incident with one of our living room lamps the other day.  James’ little friend tripped over the lamp cord and the lamp fell off the table, shattering the glass lampshade.  Thank God no one was hurt. image The lamp is from Pottery Barn but I don’t think they sell it anymore.  I’m not sure I can find a replacement shade. image Good News Of course, the lamp incident required a trip to Home Goods to look for some new lamps (gotta see the silver lining!)  In fact, I’d been wanting some blue lamps for the living room anyway.  I spotted these right away for $49 and was sold.  image I like it so much better!  Now, I’m off to the fabric store (round 2) to pull some sample fabric for drapes! *********** Do you know Brittany {Pretty Handy Girl}? I got to meet her at Blissdom and I’m so glad I did.  She is so talented and a really genuine person.  I previously posted about the closet-turned-reading nook she created for her son- AMAZING!! image She invited me to participate in her series image and my post will be up on Friday, February 11, 2011.  Have a Great Weekend friends!

  7. Your lamp isn't wrecked! Go to an antique store that specializes in lamps. They sell replacement glass lids. You can find GORGEOUS ones! 🙂

  9. Sorry to hear about your lamp. We haven't had lamps in our living space since my oldest got mobile about four years ago. One day, we'll once again enjoy the soft glow of lamplight, but for now, all the light we need comes from the decor-busting gleam in my boys' eyes!

  12. Love the new blue lamp…wish we had a Home Goods store nearby. I wonder if you could replace the broken glass shade with a regular fabric shade? Either way, it will be a fun project! 🙂

  13. Sorry to hear about the old lamp, but I love the new one! Do you know when HG gets their shipments in? I need to start hitting it up on those days (although, I may find myself getting into more trouble than I already do there!). Bring your fabric samples over — I would love to see them!
