The Loveliest Tea Party

image It was the image above that got me.  Had me returning to her blog to look at it again and again and to admire not just the beautifully simple table setting, colorful poms (that she made), and sweet ‘happy birthday’ banner, but the impossibly perfect photo that is shot toward the window with the sunlight streaming in.  If you’ve ever tried to take a picture in this direction, you know how difficult it is and can see why I admired this picture so much. The photo was taken by Kelsey, who threw her daughter this sweet 6th birthday tea party.  You can see the details of the party, including where the decor is from, what was served, and what the favors were at Kelsey’s blog “My Kids Eat Kale” Here’s a close-up of that pretty, pretty table.  clip_image001 The  Pottery Barn banner. clip_image002 Cupcakes that almost look too beautiful to eat. clip_image003 Of course, there had to be fresh flowers in a teapot! and on a doily:) clip_image004 What about these adorable invitations?! clip_image005 Looking at these sweet, innocent children, all dressed up, drinking their tea actually chokes me up.  In mean, can you imagine how fun it must have been to be a little girl on that day??  clip_image006clip_image007 The detail and love that went into this party is evident.  Kelsey, you really honored your daughter and her friends.   Thanks for sharing!

  1. Those pictures are fabulous. So sweet. We used to throw "theme" parties for our girls' birthdays when they were little (well up until they 16th's actually). The girls so enjoyed all the planning, their special cakes (homemade) and creating interesting invitations. I'm really glad I took the time back then to do it, because they still remember each one.

  2. Thats the cutest thing! The pictures of the little girls sitting around having tea reminds me of my childhood and how exciting it was to 'pretend' and use our imaginations and to dress up… ah… those were the days!

  3. This is so cute!!
(I think I would still have fun going to a party like this)

Megan, I also have to tell you that I heart your blog so so much. I've been a long time reader and finally started my own blog. Yours is very inspiring to me.

  4. Megan, you are so right about that picture, beautiful and very difficult to photograph! I had to take tons of picture of my dining room to get just a few decent ones, it faces west and I needed the bright light. Love the party idea, I will be checking out her blog, thanks! Hope you and baby James have a wonderful day today.

  5. How sweet! I love the simplicity of this party and I am sure it was much more memorable than any party at Chuck E Cheese (may I never have to attend one there ever again!).

    Have a great day!
